Sorry about your truck. Good this is they come a dime a dozen. Just replace it and be happy to make it out okay. Best of luck!

If he is injured bad I don’t see why not. Medical bills can rack up. If he isn’t then I wouldn’t. But that’s my conscious. :notsure:

Hope you recover quick OP. Totaled or not it’s fine. Truck can be replaced. Get a new shinier one!

No mention of injury, no mention of the other party not paying, yet SUE is some people's first thought.

Sideswipe is why airbags didn't deploy. Not a big sudden jolt.
Also the Tacoma's speed would have a say too. Going slowly, they won't deploy.

Not a fan of our over-litigious society, but if that truck is banged up as bad as it looks, it would be tempting to try and get a replacement if it isn't totalled.

Tell me about it man. I’m in Miami And insurance rates are high. Why? because you scuff a car and all of a sudden the other cars owner is having 3 heart transplants, 2 herniated disc surgery and a hip replacement surgery. Also somehow their dog was injured because they weren’t home in time and the dog tripped over the tv and it fell on them.

    We heard them all.

No, that’s 100% false. Being totalled is based off the amount to fix it exceeding a set % of the vehicles value. An airbag is no different then a headlight. They are both replaceable and simple get added into the repair cost.

Was there any frame damage? If so, you'll most likely be in luck. If not, a little glue and bubble gum and she'll be good as new.

Don’t these trucks have side curtain airbags for situations like this?

Hope things turn out well for you OP.

Maybe the velocity of impact wasn’t high enough.

If the frame is damaged then I'd definitely think its totaled.

I'll chime in and take the heat. Keep in mind commercial carriers have like a ton of coverage, way more than 25k or 50k or 75k.

    Hope you are ok.

Amazing the shit these trucks take and still look solid. Looks like you got into a fight with a pissed off can opener...

Not even close, my Taco was wrecked way worse. Had multiple panels damaged, broken windows, engine damage. After a couple months of work in my shop, it's running perfectly and couldn't be happier. Also, got to bed line the whole truck because of it so that looks dope

Hey everybody, thanks for all the support and comments.

I should know the details of the cost of repair or if it’s totaled tomorrow. I’m praying totaled. I just bought it 6 months ago. It stickered for $37,800 and I have it payed down to $25,500 right now.

This is my second Tacoma, both I’ve used to see patients in home health, and I don’t think I could do my job without one in the hills of WV.

To the person that asked, we are located centrally in the Clarksburg/Bridgeport area, about 35 min from Morgantown (WVU stomping grounds). I cover up to 8 counties on the weekends, sometimes more, just depending on the patients needs.

I have a code....if I file a claim, and the other party acts in the least but shitty....drags feet, pops attitude, tries to dictate repairs, cheap out on rental, lies and I have to go to my policy and hope for reimbursement then I sue.

If I sue it is because they are not acting "in good faith" as the law requires.

If I go to war it's total war. I go after the insurance adjuster's license with the state licensing board. I file a police report for insurance fraud if the person lies about what happened.

Fair is fair, but if the insurance or 3rd party plays games, lies, etc. I go to war.
