@myaccountname New Tacoma Sticker Shock Syndrome. Ask the stealership if they want you to bend over and assume the position. 90k for a LC, I could pay off my house with that money. My 2003, will be my last Tacoma, so it had better last another 10 years with regular maintenance, or maybe one day if needed I'll be able to buy a good used 2nd gen if this one gives up the ghost.

    Mid states probably.
Houses in Hawaii start 700k. People selling their parking stalls in luxury condos for 60k.

This is too true, when I first started my new job in San Francisco, I was shocked to see that some people pay $700+ per month for a parking spot, which is roughly my mortgage cost on my first home (which is now a rental)... not to mention the $3.5k per month they spend to rent an apartment. it's bonkers. Really makes the Tacoma look like a bargain.

I plan on keeping my 2019 for at least 20 years, if I can stretch it to 30 it'll be icing on the cake.

The window sticker in my 2007 Taco was actually more than my 2018, I was kind of surprised they didn’t actually go up more than they have considering how much more technology is in the 18 vs 07. This is in Canada mind you, and I’ve seen what some of you stateside guys are paying for these trucks on here, and it makes me tear up a little.

I live in N.C. where you can still afford to buy a house on 1/2 to 1 acre of land without selling my kids into black market slavery. I paid $120k for my house 10 years ago with a good downpayment. I'll never pay it off, unless I win the lotto. Home Prices on the West Coast bogle my mind. back in the 80's I use to talk to a co-worker in Commifornia, who always complained about the high cost of living and rent. I told him to move. If you don't make 200k a year, you can't afford to live on the West Coast anymore.

that pretty much sums it up. the flip side is that property here is a fantastic investment. my parents house in ohio doubled in value in 42 years... from 40 to 80k. so that is roughly $1,000/ year. my first house in portland was $250k. sold in 9 years later for just under $500k. that's 25k a year.

if you can get, get in. It is not like it's going to get any cheaper.

I wish- all the raptors around here are marked up and are minimum 70k, usually go for more than that. They get all the shit options that make the tacoma look like child's play. 1,000 stickers on the bed, 3k tech packages with 30 dollar shit speakers (same as tacoma really on that one), etc.

This. I found the factory 'All Weather Mats' to be junk. Just go with Weathertech or Husky. Much better product...

That's what I paid for mine a few months ago, it needed/needs work though. Houses around me are reasonable, but property taxes are a tough pill to swallow.

Drive the dealers as your enemy: like the dust before the wind. Either your family eats, or his. Which are you going to let it be? In The Taco's defense it keeps its value better than anything in America. SO considering lowest cost of ownership over its lifetime you are already getting the best deal of any vehicle you can buy. If you keep it for any length of time. If you don't, maybe the Taco is not the vehicle for you. Whichever metric you use to define best deal, ultimately it falls to you to make it the best initial purchase on a Taco ever seen. What has helped me before is going to a competitive dealer and do a "let me take it to show my wife" routine. Then drive that truck up in front of the other dealer and let him look at another dealer's vehicle you are driving. Knowing you are at the point in a deal with another dealer that they would let you drive it alone to see your wife is a sobering vison for any competing dealer. Tell them this is their last chance. They know that. They know you are not a Lookie-Lou then.

    Holy crap, that's ballsy.

I'm doing the email back-and-forth war right now. I'm much braver at a distance.
Wish me luck, because I think I'm going to get a decent deal. Should know later today...

Not true. The OEM tonneau cover can only be purchased from existing owners willing to sell/trade or a junkyard from a totaled truck. If you're lucky.

The OEM tonneau cover is part of a package. It is not an accessory. See toyota.com and build a Tacoma.

Exactly. Find a dealer who won't add anything on. Depending on your location that might or might not be difficult.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Unless your area is under the control of one of those "pirate-like regional distributors, Order your truck exactly you want it. If they balk -walk out of the door. I went to my dealers and asked for my access cab in BBP (blue) V6, AT, 4WD, with the only option being Tow pkg. I would have taken that truck and ONLY that from another dealers stock, but there was none to be had. The dealer got one on order and I got mine 7-8 weeks later.
The whole system of car sales depends on consumer impatience -"gotta-have it now" . The dealers do not like to special order anything. Keep in mind the truck HAS to be within the standard combination guidelines; in other words I could not have gotten say Crawl-control on my SR5.
If you have that long forgotten trait called "patience" -you should be able to get your truck "your way"
The regional "distributor-crooks" may also be able to get one your way as well.. Just remember -- you have the ultimate bargaining chips -your feet- with which you can use to "walk-out".

Also, I got my floor mats the ones I picked and liked ("Huskys") , step bars (N-fabs), mud guards (oems) after the sale -when I had the time to pick the items at the cost I wanted to pay. I saved a bunch doing it my way and was not pushed into accepting something some corporate twit decided on!
I got my 17 SR5 4WD truck for $30,500 plus a stupid $75.00 paperwork fee. Had that fee been any more -it would have stopped the deal. Dealer knew from the get-go I am a old-fart tightwad. I knew and specified EXACTLY the truck I wanted -with no exceptions. I sent out and called the specs to dealers all over the state (Mo.)
my local told me they would not give me a price -but meet any other offer I would get. They did!
