I'm excited for those hangers but I looked at my rivets today and am dreading that.

Unless you have a plasma and a good air hammer with an assortment of chisels and punches

Nope. I only have the air hammer but it works well even without the plasma. But you need a compressor with a lot of volume of air as it is an air hog! Min 10 gal tank and even with that it'll use it up pretty quick.
On my 63 weekend that and a plasma will be used quite heavily in getting the old stuff off.

I was looking at those rivets last night and I think a small cutter and like 30 cutting wheels might get the job done.

Here's my method for em and what I would do if I had to do it at home again.

    • Use flap disc to grind the heads off all 4 rivets
    • Chisel the stock hanger off
    • Grind the rivets smooth with the frame
    • Use ball joint press kit and a 2" grade 8 bolt to press out the bottom two rivets
    • Use a drill and drill out the top two rivets
edit: and you don't need to remove the leafs for any of this. Just unbolt them from the hanger obviously.

If you take a cut off wheel and cut an asterisk into them you can then take a normal cold chisel and knock the pieces off. Just make sure to cut down until the cut-off wheel touches the bracket that way you know you got them deep enough. If you take a MAP gas torch and heat up the area around the rest of the rivet it makes taking the drift punch and knocking them out easier after you get the head off.

Sounds time consuming, but possibly less frustrating. What do his instructions say to do?

They say to just drill out all the rivets. Fuck that noise.

And it's really not too time consuming, except the drilling part. Grinding the rivets and getting the stock hanger off only takes like 10 minutes.

If my grandpa was alive I'd tell him to call you and he could give you 20 pages easily. One of his big things was if people owed him money from visits, surgery, whatever at Christmas time he would send out a Christmas card to every patient and those that owed he would tell them their bill was paid in full. I never knew he did that until one of his old Nurse's told me. Him and Mima kept it from the family pretty much until yrs after he retired.

Damn your kids stay up late school nights my kid is in bed by 7:30 Fri and Sat she gets to stay up till 9 maybe 10 (and that's a big maybe)
