My 8% tint

Here in Hawaii, there's cops all over the place and sneaks up on you.

Maaan, the first cop to see your truck is going to pull you over.

 

Yup the first time I got a tint ticket it was my last. That was before they did the flat rate at 249 bucks. I got hit with every window an a educational lecture from the officer at 2:30am

Don't mean to laugh but a friend got the same lecture on H1, on a date.

 

Worst part was had the tint put on that week, and he made me rip it off. Yup gotta love one lane “highways” at night

 

Oh shit!
The cop gave him a chance to take off but next time he sees it with same tint he was going to impound the car.
Maybe he didn't want to embarrass the guy with the girl in the car .

 

Back in the 90's, my first year of college, I had 10% installed all around except the windshield. I was rocking that for all of two weeks before a friendly state trooper pulled me over, ticketed me, and told me to either remove the tint right there, right now, or he was impounding it. One hour of working those windows on the shoulder of I-10, while the trooper made sure I didn't accidentally step into the traffic lane while doing so, on top of a $200 fine... I learned my lesson.

What state was this?

 

BFE Texas, somewhere outside of Ft Stockton. Was returning from a trip to Big Bend.

 

If you go with 70%, no one will even know it's there.

 

Sheesh. I've been pulled over twice for my 5%....one time was a state trooper that just wrote the ticket and let me pay it off. Other time a city cop pulled me over for tint and ended up not even giving me a ticket lol. In NC btw, seems like only a select few state troopers seem to really care

 

I got pulled by a DOT officer for it, but that's it.

My local tint guy told me yesterday he had a customer come in that had their car impounded, but I think there was more to the story than just the dark window tint.

 

I've had plenty of friends get pulled for window tint as well...no impound just a simple ticket/fine. There had to be more to that story if he got impounded

Although my current problem is finding a place for inspection. I used to have zero issues finding a place to pass my tint but apparently they've been "cracking down" on inspection shops doing that

 

Looks great, but you will regret tinting your windshield that dark.

 

Where you located in NC?

 

Zebulon, about 30 min east of Raleigh. Its a relatively small town so I was pretty surprised no shop would let the window tint slide...the place I used to go in Raleigh for inspection of course changed management and is much more strict

 

You'll have to find a buddy with "a guy" who can do it...or just rip off the fronts every year and get them redone.

 

I've got a couple other inspection places to try and I'm going to see if the shop I got my tint done at knows anyone. I'm sure they do...fingers crossed they help me out lol

And yeah I'm fast approaching the point of just ripping the tint off, getting it inspected, then driving back to the tint shop to get them re-tinted well past my inspection date at the moment

 

Mine is coming up...my "guy" is being weird about it this time around though...
