So I do NOT need to order the bolts? The only thing I need are the 2 bedside moldings and the grommets then?

I scored a set for super cheap from a guy. The only thing I got was the flares and a whole lotta dirt. I took them out the the truck (SR5) and noticed the only thing I needed to purchase was the double sided tape. The flares lined up perfectly with the existing bolts I had holding the wheel well lining up.

I had did have to redo two of the flares as I initially used the wider DST and it didn’t seal as well as I would have liked. I then went and bought the slimmer tape. Reattached and taped. And I’ve had not a single problem.

    TL/DR

No. No use of grommets on mine. Or additional bolts.

Did you not need the different bedside moldings either?

Nah mate. I literally used. Existing bolts. And DST. Nothing more. Now I’m sure Nitori’s flares are as lock tight as his tutorial. But the way I completed the mod works for me. And I’ve had ZERO issues. Like I said, live in Florida, brutal heat and rain storms on the reg. ZERO issues.

Maybe you dont have the same trim at the bottom as I do.. It looks like my trim would be in the way of the flares..

I’d traded someone fenders and bed box to not have flares . But finding someone up to that would be hard .

If you order everything in the first thread you should be fine. Unless something has changed you will use everything when installing the flares. I did this on my old truck (post 42 on this thread).

I ordered the 2 trim pieces, 4 grommets and 6 screws. Then ordered the tape and got some alcohol pads.. Bought a set of used flares from here.. I think I have everything I need to install them.. Gonna need to paint them with something (theyre blue).. Not sure what yet.

You should be good to go once you get them painted. When I first got mine they were orange and I plasti dipped them black. I decided to get them painted black and it was pain having to take them off to get them painted. I would recommend you get them finished however you want before putting them.

Im not going to blast him on here. Maybe it was purely a misunderstanding. So I dont want to put the guy on blast. I just didnt approve of the way the deal was going and wanted my money back. He has his story and I have mine. Id be happy to share the messages between him and myself with a moderator and if the mod felt it is sufficient to put his name out there then thats fine.

Hey i have some questions about clipping the front clips on the front flare. Is it only those 3 that need to be clipped and filed down? Also did you add the tape all through the edges of the front flare like the rear? My flares are on there way to me and im trying to get my ducks in a row before i start installation.

Yeah it's only the front 3 tabs, Tacomas that come with flares from the factory have 3 holes in their front bumpers that you're supposed to snap them into.

Regarding the tape, I had copied the factory layout (look closely at the second to last picture in step 2, you can see the red tape ends about 3/4 of the way on the front piece) but it looks like other members have tried the method of just adding tape along the whole thing and I'm gonna say that probably will hold way better, but you will have to be really good at lining it up or it will show a little.
