I live in Modesto California and here we have primeshine. Unlimited wash for 19.95. It actually does a great job and if your not happy even with a single pay wash you can go around again. They get underneath wash and all. Well worth it. I have yet to hand wash my truck ever.

Some people micro scratches in their paint don't bother them. I know. I know. Your paint don't have micro scratches. LOL!

I go through an auto car wash every week to keep salt off. I can’t believe people don’t do it.

Well, the soap they use eats your wax/sealant off is the reason I don't go thru them.

I know a guy that uses that green tire/wheel cleaner in the self serve hand bays to wash his new Tundy. I cringe at the thought.

I’ve never noticed. I took my WRX through auto washes for 10 years and it looked brand new when I sold it.

Back when I had my 2nd gen I went through a commercial carwash once...so many swirl marks :frusty: practically buffed the whole truck after that

Of course it was black sand pearl and that paint was so thin you could scratch it just by looking at it

I had my '18 DCSB Sport about a month and needed a quick wash. Took it to my local automatic car wash that I've used for years.
When it was done, i walked around looking to make sure it was clean, and saw what looked to be swirl scratches on the hood.
I was sick to my stomach. I worried about it for days.

I took it to my local body shop guy and while talking to him we realized that it was just some kind of gummy residue and it wiped away with some polishing compound.
Maybe the shape of the hood caused it to be deposited.
He had a great line. "You never know who went through there right before you and what was on their car."

Anyway, no more machine washes for my Tacoma.

Think of all the dirt and grit on the vehicles before you.
Some of that will still be on the brushes.
So go touchless if you don't want to do it yourself.

Never really thought of the grime from previous vehicles staying on the brushes...definitely makes sense considering my horrible luck with commercial washes lol

I know what you mean about black paint. One of the reasons I got rid of my '16 SR5. The sides of the truck looked like it had been shot with a shotgun. Little chigger
bites of paint gone all over it.

Its definitely the most annoying color when it comes to cleaning/maintenance, every single defect shows. At the same time I deal with it though lol, no color looks better to me on a truck when its freshly buffed/waxed

Hand wash only! Those brushes/dangling thingys/chemicals wreck paint jobs and wheels!

I wish I could go through automatic washes sometimes when I'm feeling lazy. But I like the DIY ones better, and I can take my sweet ass time.

I don’t trust them. Either way right now with my tires I’m unsure if I’d fit. I do take my wife’s Civic though. But cause it’s her car :anonymous:

The paint on Toyota is really shitty. My coworker has a 2nd gen (05) paint on the hood chipped/peeled off same with a lot of his doors and body panel. Also his plastic bed looks almost white.

While I'm sure he never used sealant or waxed it, he claims it's been parked under a covered carport for most of it's life (he lives in orange county socal)
