The 2nd gen and 3rd gen skins are the same. The caps are different. We don't offer 3rd gen caps anymore. If you want a cap for a 3rd gen, we now only offer a skin/cap one-piece system.

    One says 2005 - current....this means 2005-2019.

Other one says 2016 - current....this means 2016-2019...this is the one with the integrated cap. The cap is what makes it incompatible between the two generations.

This is another good option. Discounts for LEO and Military as well.

Okay I would go by the description over the title. I'll back out now.

Get rid of that stock plastic and upgrade to metal. The weakest part of the 2nd Gen Tacoma is the tailgate. Reinforce it with the Mobtown Steel Tailgate Reinforcement Plate and have confidence to use your truck like a truck.

Fits all 2nd Generation Toyota Tacoma (2005-2015).

Yea, we are getting a new website soon so we haven't sent a lot of time fixing the old site. Also, been prioritizing finishing everyone's orders.

It may not have ribs, but it's got a bunch of screws that are just as hard on the knee's

I too suggest a piece of rubber for the Op. Cheap and easy!

I just want something that wont let gravel fall in the crevice between the tailgate and the bumper. Last time I carried some lava rock some got in there and when I opened up the tailgate its scratched the paint off of the tailgate. I retouched as much as I could to prevent rust, but still.

Don't be it all starts out on the website, if the info is wrong that means less people will buy or get confused on their purchase and do elsewhere.

No offense taken. Just trying to be helpful. I did go and update the website to fix the confusion. Thank you.

The Mountain Hatch looks pretty good because it does have recessed areas for the fastener heads, which helps avoid catching gear when pushing stuff in or out of the bed. Frankly, by the time you get into your own time for design, plus materials, trial and errors, etc., several trips to HD or whatever, it all adds up. And it looks like it might still hurt your knees.

I ended up with the Relentless aluminum tailgate reinforcement (2nd gen), but I still wanted the tailgate to allow easy loading with out hitting screw heads and an even deck level with the bed. I looked into countersunk screws, but there just isn't enough thickness to use the correct size screw head. So I reinstalled my OEM ribbed kneecap killer back over it, and I use a cheap foam rubber knee pad for one knee as I get in. Works great for all my needs.

I also have a rubber bed mat.

Something like this. It just live in the bed next to my crate of straps and tools.

I got in the habit of putting one of my factory floor mats in the back of my truck when my camper shell is on it. I would try that first before spending time and money on something else. It works surprisingly well to save my knees.
