I've always used Rustoleum paint. Works better than anything I've used in the past. Think I may repaint my stuff with a gloss black this time. Matte black is so meh.

 

Finally making progress on my own sliders. The whole process with these has been experimental to say the least. At some point, I may make these available to build to order. We’ll see.

So far I’ve gotten the outers completed and the legs are tacked in place. I’m adding a rear reinforcement as well as shown. Just need to make one more for the other side.

Been thinking of adding the bracing to my sliders like you did at the kickout. Haven't seen a reason to need it, just wouldn't hurt to have a little extra something under there.

 

Absolutely. I saw quite a bit of flex in that area with my CBI Sliders so I decided I won't chance it this time. Cutting that piece at that extreme of an angle was quite difficult though. Main reason I haven't incorporated that in to the sets I build for other folks yet.

Would it be any easier to cut / grind out with square tube?

 

I also need to weld a nut to a piece of flat bar for the bolt that is inside the boxed part of the frame.

 

Nope. Not really. The fun part of this cut is that you make the long 70 degree cut then twist the tubing 15 degrees and make the other cut at 20 degrees. Getting a 15 degree offset with square tubing would be much more difficult since it naturally wants to be clamped at a right angle. Round tubing doesn't care.

 

lol, I didn't think about the angle of the sliders when making the cuts....

 

Yeah, Its quite the headache. Lol.

 

Finished my personal sliders this evening. Now the boring part: cleaning them up with the wire wheel and paint. Then the install.

 

Have you done any sliders with fill plates?

 

I haven’t yet. Honestly it’s due to fact I don’t have any 11 gauge sheet laying around or a set of dimple dies to give it the look I want.

 

Say someone worked in industrial supply and could maybe get a set of dies and wanted a some sliders

 

If I get to keep said dies, I’d say you’d get a screamin discount. But that’s all hypothetical of course.

 

I was just looking into them cool deals not sure on which ones are good quality, have you done a set of long bed sliders?

 

I have yet to do a long bed set. I need to actually borrow one for a day and get a template for the frame. After that, I can build as many as you want.
