My 17 tacoma i bought new, a few months ago a rolling sound developed when i turn, break, sometimes at random. It sounds like it coming from the dash right under the steering wheel, Another developed in the driver door panel and floor. Ive had it in the dealership multiple times and they have torn everything apart and scoped the vents. Cant figure this out! They pulled a marble and that didnt fix it. Anyone else having similar issues? Im going nuts!!!!

Where are you located, and do you ever park inside a heated garage? Could be a chunk of ice caught somewhere

So there was a marble they found? If so, then there’s probably more of them.

I am in washington, and its icy but the noises are consistent. Toyota has ripped up the carpet checked all the vents and thats where the marble was. They pulled the dash completly apart and searched everywhere for loose parts and scoped the vents and nothing fixed the sounds i hear. The sound happens at randow just going down the road. After reading a thread on here about a ball in a cup sound kinda sounds similar to my situation.

2 little kids, i keep my truck emaculent and they went through the vents twice and i thought it was the marble. But the sound is coming from somewhere it would be impossible for a marble to get to under the steering wheel in the dash area and the lower door. I had them fix the window assembly a few months back thats when the sounds began, so they went back and tore the door apart and found nothing. Ive had my truck in 3 different days since then tearing it apart and they cant figure it out. So i hope by coming on here someone will have a similar experience with a solution.

Acorn maybe. The marble thing has thrown me off on that one though. Was it like a legit marble with the twirly stuff inside? If so, do your kids even have marbles?

Have you been to Burger King lately? Supposedly the King has lost his marbles!!!

Under the hood is my focus now, i was looking at the cowl under the wipers and would be good to look at. Its just so odd, i cant swerve my steering wheel back and forth and make the noise happen. It just does it randomly going down the road or when i make a turn, not everytime tho. So it makes me think its not just a loose object rolling freely or in a channel but some kind of mechanical thing that engages electrically. Steering system or in the steering column? Wipers? I am so bat shit trying to figure this out for 3 or 4 months now. And ya it was an actual marble they pulled from my vents that went in duct under my seat.

Ive even heard a noise that sounded like the tire picked something big up and fling it up into the fender. But i never saw anything in the road and its happened a few times. All these noises are in the front driver side and i just had the front shocks replaced because the orignal ones were loose and would clang when i went over bumps. Something is just not right with this truck....

Sway bar end links are good? Edit: just for fun place your open hand on the fender directly above the front wheel. Now, push forward and pull backward. My fender was loose making a banging sound. I wonder if 7 years later it’s still a “thing”. Tightened them up and it rides like a Cadillac

The biggest positive is that it sounds like everything drives and works fine except there is the annoying noise. Once you finally figure out the sound you should be good to go.

Ya but for 45k i shouldnt have annoying noises plaugeing me, ive had a few major issues and a few minor issues and everytime toyota has stepped up to resolve and fix it under warranty, but for a new vehicle i feel theres just been to much wrong. I dont rally or run it hard, i drive freeway to and from work never off road. Idk, mabee i got a bad one but i wanna get the small issues taken care of before they become big issues.

Just turn the radio up, until you solve it. I'm OCD also, I know what your dealing with. Any little non-normal noise drives me crazy.

I cant i am documenting every noise, when it happens, where it comes from, what it sounds like, how frequent, if i just study it i can explain it better and toyotas been good at digging in.
