I stopped by my workbench on my way out to work this morning and snapped this pic

I’d actually recommend doing the opposite if you’re only choosing one. If that cheap wrench is not calibrated or adjusted properly it could strip your drain hole. Drain plugs are easy to tighten just by hand, without over tightening. The pump will come in handy and Walmart has them for $4, sometimes by the gear oil or by the marine section.

Some gear oil comes in pouches now that you can just squeeze into the fill hole.

Call up toyota and tell them their shits broke then. Because synthetic fluid is why my shit leaked. End of story.

I’m thrilled you’ve had a wonderful learning experience. Thank you for the information.

LOL. It literally says “comparing gear oil is a useless debate...changing the oil more frequently will result in less wear and money spent.”

Toyota already recommends a 30k OCI.

You guys keep touting that document as if it was found in a cave near the Dead Sea.

They literally say “the superiority of synthetics is hard to prove by most owners, we recommend changing your oil more frequently with a conventional (they like Lucas) or switching to synthetic for longer intervals and monitoring temps."

This site is so tribal when it comes to brand so I’ll say it again - Toyota already recommends a short OCI for the diff. You can run anything you want. That webpage does nothing but confirm that. It doesn’t say “don’t use synthetics.” Stop trying to tout it to support whatever nonsense you are trying to spew.

Edit: willfully distorting the facts of your source document and then chastising others for not reading your source document is crap.

This is how I picture you. You’re very passionate about gear oil.

Sorry I read your reference material like you requested. Sorry it doesn’t say what you think it does. Sorry I pointed it out. Resorting to memes is pretty weak (edit) in a technical discussion at least. Meme away otherwise.

Agreed. The Mobil 1 “LS” will be fine for his 2015 application as well.”

Nothing you say will change my mind, and nothing I say will change yours. So rather than argue about literally nothing, I thought I’d post a meme that gave me a chuckle, and hopefully someone else gets a chuckle out of.

All this argument about fluid types is so confusing. I'll just play it safe and not change my fluid.

The rear dif fluid change is as easy a DIY job as they come. Get new crush washers.

I wonder how many drag boat racing guys drained the Lucas oil out of all their rigs after the shit Lucas pulled at the end of last years racing season.

Cliff notes: Lucas: We're not going to sanction drag boat racing anymore. We're too cheap to hold an end of season awards banquet. We'll mail you your trophy. Sorry your top alcohol drag boat is now pretty much worthless.

I feel ya. So now I feel even sillier for not knowing when to change my front. The dealer said the back was due so I was just gonna do the back. I guess it's probably in my owners manual. That's why I'm here because there are guys passionate enough to know the finite details.
