I have a set. Great piece of mind. Especially since balance stems are kinda out in the open.

Can’t say for sure because I haven’t been in there yet to see. The handle snapped right off the assembly and when I clipped it back on it was just flapping freely.

So I had planned on changing my ATF cause I’m doing a big mainenence cluster fuck this summer before I go up north. I went out to actually check the ATF to see what I was looking at and it looks like this.

    CE622C98-172D-4402-A408-9843F859AB50.jpg

Like BLOOD red, no brown at all, looks brand new.

I don’t have the transmission service history so I don’t know when it was done last. Should I leave it for another 30-50k or do it still.

I read something about Toyota recommending to never change the ATF unless you tow or abuse your truck but I don’t know how true it is.

    this is true
toyota say you don't need to replace the ATF fluid unless you tow and if you tow it should be replaced at 100k KM
The part of that I dont get is although yes towing might put more strain on it etc and cause it to need to be replaced sooner than someone who didn't tow, but if they suggest its only good for 100k with towing how is it that it can last forever if its only good for 100k with a little harder use?

I'm sure we all would change sooner but its just stupid thats how toyota sugget it be done.

If its that clean it might be ok though.
The only thing I would be somewhat concerned with, with changing it is it might actually cause issues.
I remember years ago I brought my car (1986 Dodge 600) to mr lube for an oil change and they said change transmission fluid cause its dirty.

Obviously wasn't going to let them do it but went to my mechanic at the time and asked him.
His suggestion was to leave it alone.
That although it was dirty and would warrant a change, given the age of the vehicle and how old that fluid might have been, the dirtiness of it was likely helping to create a seal etc and if it was changed it would just create issues.

Why for you PC crashing? Was it the software or that PC just crashes?

I would have a dedicated PC for 3D printing that does nothing but printing, to avoid those wasted runs.

I am sure it can be some low end cheap used PC, windows 7, 8 GB RAM.

Thanks for the advice, I'll leave it for now.

I honestly expected it to at least be a little bit brown, looks like it came straight out of the jug. I've heard about not flushing because of debris being pushed into the oil galleries but I never thought about the grime making a seal. Interesting stuff.

Diffs and Tcase will take priority now.

ya I think its one of those things, if you do it all the time at 100k its fine but if it hasn't been done for a while and its old not always worth doing it.

Ahhh, memories... Nothing like the pucker and woo-whoo factor than practicing with your first HE rounds,LOL.

Since you were bored waiting for duds, I'd guess you were the CE?
Most CE's I worked with were crazy bastards Lol, but then you have to be, when your pulling IED's out of the sand with a pickaxe, or cleaning out tanks with a meat hook. :)

May you always stay mildly bored with your career my friend. ;)
