Scantool says I need to update to the latest version. I am using 12.20.024 now. Should I go ahead and run the update ?

agreed, but i've still considered the idea of running no fuel in certain edge cases. Like when engine breaking in 4th on a steep section of freeway.

I recall this being related to the minimum ratio where combustion occurs. Going leaner then that and the fuel doesn't have a complete burn. I'm I'm remembering this all correctly, this was a major advantage of hydrogen because unlike gasoline or diesel, it is able to burn at some crazy lean ratios. Something like 40:1. I should note, I'm not an expert on the topic so don't take these numbers as fact. Hopefully someone can correct/confirm my words.

I was thinking that because 16:1 and 13:1 which is what your tune file uses are the same lambda from the stoichiometric 14.7:1 that the exhaust temps and NOx should be about the same, the only difference is at 16:1 power output would be poor as there is no FI. As a tuner I understand that power is what you are usually after so it doesnt make sense for you to detune an engine and lose 50hp to get better mpg but I think I could live with such a compromise as i have a very light foot.

Anyways thank you for a nice answer, really appreciate it.

You'll get use to it and even like it. Last weekend flashed 87 Base to see what it feels like. It felt unresponsive and luggy. Tried it for two days and couldn't stand it anymore so back to Performance.

You know what’s weird...I clear the values BEFORE I flash and the tune runs noticeably better than if I clear AFTER flash...why is that? @OVTune is there a reason for this?

I'm trying to wrap my head around why this would matter, and I'm coming up short. I think you're imagining things. LOL!

Don't understand either... unless part of Mat's tune resides in learned values.

But gear lock is fun. Everyone should try it at least once
