Depends on your uses for it.
.308 is an old, proven round, cost is cheaper than .300 BLK and performance is better.

6.5CM is the new .308, it’s flatter shooting, just as inexpensive as .308 if not cheaper, has a little less recoil, and performs better at distance. However the bullet weights are a little lighter, they start around 72 Grains and go up to 150, .308 bullets start at 125 and go to 185, however the common rounds use 150 grain bullets.

.300 BLK only really makes sense if you already reload for it, want the quietest suppressed gun you can have, or don’t shoot past 100 yards (give or take).

I'll add that .300blk is only just shy of 30-30/7.62x39 ballistically, so if you want a lower recoil/lower meat damage rifle with the option to suppress it's not a bad option, but it is probably much harder to find ammo for such purposes locally. The internet fixes that problem if you're willing to buy online.

Sweet, I am leaning towards the 6.5cm so I can have a long range bolt action gun.

Vortex put a Diamondback Tactical on a 6.5 Creed Ruger American Predator to prove that a $1000 1000yard gun isn't a hard rifle to build, and is quite capable. I've been tempted to build one myself for Mammoth next year.

This is true. Best deal right now is 400 shipped from GAG.

This time of year sucks for gun deals, too much tax refund money floating around.

EDIT: I will say, if the rifle is going to pull double duty as a 1k yard gun and a hunting gun, the predator is a really nice piece. It's light enough, and is pre-threaded for a brake. You can even get one with AICS mag compatibility, which means easy loading/unloading and competition capabilities.

I really like the way the ruger American compact fits me and it’s cheaper than the predator and comes in 6.5 cm lol

At 6’3” you prolly want a longer length of pull than the compact American offers lol

Also this is a rad but heavy stock option for American short actions :

I have a similar stock on my 870 and love it :)

The 6.5 is 20” and the other calibers 18”
Shorter length of pull stock than other Americans for smaller folks or if u wear lots of outerwear/backpack. Good truck gun material too lol

I am thinking the predator is the way to go with what I want out of the gun. Long range and good for hunting.

I have an EC9s which is almost the same. I like it. Easy to carry and the trigger is pretty nice. I like the ergo on the PPS much better though.

I have the Ruger American compact in .243 and it is a fun little bolt action rifle I would highly recommend. The length of pull is little short for me even at 5'11 but it is manageable and worth it for the short barrel and plenty good accuracy. I bought it mostly for range shooting but figure most of the deer hunting on this side of the state is going to be short range in the hills as well so it should be perfect for that too.

That being said one of the next on my list is a Predator in 6.5CM.
