    Do what I do...
Get your cover to lock up all your shit and put your bike on a platform locking rack like a Kuat. It has a locking hitch pin and cable locks secure the wheels and frame to the rack. My bikes cost as much as a motorcycle so I never leave it unattended for long, even locking. I take it in the hotel room with me.

Get a canopy. The bikes stay completely protected and safe. There are two mounting options; lay the bike down flat on it's side. Use padding where needed. If your bike has an easily removable front wheel, you can also remove the front wheel and mount the fork in a bracket.

Works great for both my mountain and road bikes.

Sounds good but bike thieves don't care about canopies. I was in Eugene, Ore parked right out front of a Holiday Inn with a bike locked inside my Canopy. I also had it locked to the truck bed. Came out around 4.30am to start driving and they had pried open the door of the canopy, cut the lock inside the truck bed. I figured it was Oregon and my truck was right by the front door of the hotel, with lots of light. I had built a custom dual slalom/downhill rig for my daughter to race at Sea Otter. Luckily it was after the race when it was stolen.
If you are into biking I would say to not put any bike related stickers on your canopy identifying yourself as a biker, they are like a beacon to bike thieves.

Great advice TBH. I do this with my motorcycles/dirt bikes while traveling as well - they will always come in the room with me. Don't rely upon leaving in a canopy or cover - it is only a matter of time. Canopy is worse than a cover because you can see in it quickly while walking by, thieves aren't going to know you have anything in your tonneau unless like someone else says you put a bunch of stickers all over your truck.

We always take our bikes into the hotel with us, but I was tired and figured just this one time I will leave it in the back. My mistake.

When I know the trail is going to be muddy, I bring a garden sprayer full of water so I can get the big mud off before taking it through a marble lobby haha.

I wrap mine in a thick high quality moving blanket (not harbor freight). and cable it down - in my camper. Thieves cant take it if they don't see it and I keep the whole rig under my sight when in restaurants etc, and like mentioned previously, take it into motel rooms with you

I lay my 29er mountain bike on it's side so that the handle bar grip and pedal on one side are touching the bed mat. I know that's not fancy, but it hasn't hurt anything yet. Not absolutely sure it would work with a bed cover, I have a shell.

Two bikes I pop off the front wheels and back the bikes in under the shell, then bungee around the frame to hold to the side of the bed/shell. Works great, no damage to bikes.

Bed cover would be great for traveling, out of sight that way. Unless someone sees you load and unload they'd never know it's there.

Absolutely no stickers or advertising that I ride bikes on my truck. Still don't leave bikes in there overnight, and keep line of sight when stopped on trips, even with the shell locked up, really hard to fully secure the bed.

I just stand mine up diagonally in the bed and attach a small tie-down to each side of the handle bar. Works great as long as you don't need to lock it.

I used to have Yakima Frontliaders on the OEM Roof Rack but it was a pain in the ass taking it off etc.
