Instead of going through all the effort of dealing with FCC and having customers need to reprogram their remotes, what do you think about removing the buttons on the stock PCB and building a case around that?

Do you think the pins can just be cut or desoldered and not affect Smart Key circuit?

With the battery holder removed (which could easily be built into the new case) and excluding the buttons the PCB is 5.75mm thick. How thin do you think your case can be?
This would still be larger than the Lexus card key which is 3.33mm at its thickest point, but a far cry from the 15.9mm of the stock fob. Would just 1mm of plastic or metal (Lexus card is metal) be thin enough? The non button half of the stock remote comes in at 7.75mm to give you some idea of thickness.
Even though that is more than twice the thickness of the Lexus key, it would be the least hassle for you and customers, and I would have gone that route in a heartbeat over dealing with the cost and programming etc of the Lexus key. It’s still less than half the thickness of the stock fob.

I have a cracked Lexus card you are welcome to if you need it somehow for R&D for this let me know.

This is what I was thinking, just don’t have access to a 3D printer to make it feasible

I like this approach, and would do it to my own fob...but the majority of people will not want to desolder, or mess with their fob. They want 100% drop in..no modifications. Which is why I want to have 2 fob models on both sides of the spectrum: smaller that OEM but retaining buttons, then a super slim Lexus credit card version for ultra compact. This would be kind of in the middle of both options..

Yeah I figured. I may be in the minority, but for what it’s worth I’d rather mess with my own fob than deal with having to get a fob programmed (as long as it’s been shown pulling the buttons off will only disable buttons and nothing else).
That opens up options for mail in service whether by you or anyone else for those who don’t want to do this themselves, as the tech in this case won’t need the vehicle.

I really can't tell if this was a troll or not lol...but if you read through the thread he addresses the colors he's putting out. He will, believe it or not, be making the Cav Blue

Not troll...you just have the expectation that people actually READ and not just enter the thread and aimlessly comment.

I've never used the key insert. Subbed so I can get in on one of these. Very clean design.
