Best Phone Holder, for me IMO (for any vehicle, really)

Ive searched high and low for a good phone holder. The best one, for me, was the one I made.

On the back of the phone, I put the fuzzy side of velcro on the back of my Samsung Galaxy S9+. Then the scratchy side of the velcro on my dash. The reason for a long velcro piece on the dash is for better reinforcement & flexibility. I had an 06' Tacoma I did this too and it worked great, even 4-wheelin. This whole set-up cost me $7.
I also like ripping the phone on and off, quick and easy. It stays up real nice and I enjoy ripping the phone on and off when I need it, but less secure than a holder squeezing your phone in place. Plus, no clunky phone holder visible.
Get the velcro here. I recommend getting the 15' roll. This stuff is helpful around the house and car.

I have tried the MPOW CD phone holder, which I thought was pretty good. Cost $10, but took up too much real estate in front of the stereo.

...the cup insert phone holder by Cellet $35. The round insert wouldnt stay in the square holder, that well....and no one wants to give up the cup holder thats closest to them! Heck no!

I also bought the whole assembly for the Ram mount. Though I havent put that in, Im happy with my velcro set up.
Ram Mount large phone Grip $29
    Ram mount 1" ball $7.50
    Ram 1" Socket Arm $9
    or
    Ram 2" Socket Arm $9.50
Hondo overpriced (yeah, I said it) Dash Mount $40
    Total $85
(Or get the Hondo bundle for $140!)
Worth it to most, just not for me.

So Hondo Garage revamped the mount? I got the one that goes from the top to the bottom of the vent with a screw on the bottom and it limits the vent articulation.

Yes, they did. Just came out fairly recently. Sell your old one on eBay and get this one!

So you spent nearly a hundred bucks on phone mounts and settled with Velcro? Sorry, not trying to talk smack I just find this kinda funny. I do like simple setups over fancy over priced nonsense so I like the simplicity of your idea. I'm not a big fan of the large strip of Velcro though. I use a scosche magnetic mount and it's small, out of the way and cheap.

I like the Etsy one, personally. Small simple and works.

Smack talk is fine, I understand how humans are, haha.
Anyway, yeah, I sold everything back on eBay for the same amount I paid. So, no sweat off my back.

get the hondo. it's expensive but worth every penny. you'll use it every single time you get in the truck. get their dash clips and run a permanent wire up over the dash crevice to it.

if it works for you .. awesome.. That velcro strip would drive me fkn nuts.. I went with the new hondo style.. love it.. after everything Ive got about 75 bucks in it, but its solid and looks as good as a dash mount can look.

I would think that adding "for you" to the title would be more accurate?

For me, I can say that velcro would not allow me to effectively navigate offroad. There, the Hondo mount and @FreshMexicanTaco 's DMM excelled. I sold my Hondo mount when I got the DMM. It is vastly superior, for me.

Seconded, DMM beats this in price and functionality. There is always the DSM too.

I agree the DSM would be a killer, minimalist mount. I might have started there if it was available before I got the Hondo mount. I have had three devices mounted in the DMM. My phone for navi, Baofeng radio, and a passenger's phone. It was pretty convenient as I had arms and X grips around from my bicycles and motorcycles.

Trust me, I wish I could change the title and add "for me", but I while I can change the body of this post, I cant seem to change the title. Im cursed!

So, what are these DSM and DMM's you guys are talking about?

    For the DMM / DSM:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-for-phones-tablets-or-anything-else.565951/

It is as pricey as the Hondo mount, but better for what I needed.

Sorry....youre right, it was wrong. I was just pointing out the price. The product is top notch, no doubt about it. I even linked to his product.

It's a bit pricey but Hondo is the way to roll for the mount. Driver side center vent for my phone in an X-Grip and the passenger center vent holds a 9.7" iPad solid as a rock so the fiancee can nav when we go out on trips.
