That thing suuuuuuuucked. The only work I ever did on it was changing the headlight bulbs and it took me 2 hours because the housings slide out on rails you cant get them back on after you remove the light. Fuck that car.

It’s called service position. Look it up.

Germans make great stuff, over complicated and engineered, absolutely frustrating to work on

Because it's just paint that's eventually going to get scraped off by a rock or a tree in the future and the cost of power coating is about 1/4th of the cost of the actual bumper. My front bumper is only powdercoated because Mule only had the powdercoated ones in stock and it was a wash since I didn't have to pay for shipping or wait for the lead times.

I'll let ya know if I end up rattle canning it. I might look into a paint gun since I have a big air compressor laying around though.

Check engine lights are just a Volkswagen product's way of telling you everything is okay.

The harbor freight guns (the purple HPLV one) actually sprays decently. For something like a bumper its a great choice

Only had one code on it so far for a failed crank position sensor.

I will say VAG-COM is the stupidest thing ever though. Like hey everyone else is going OBDI....lets make our own system that will only be used on our cars!

I need a hammer drill. Should I rent or buy one from someplace like harbor freight?

    Are floor mats a mod?
Primer, 3 coats or rustoleum bed liner held up great on my rear bumper. At least as good as my powder coated front. Plus if u scrape it u can fix it.

Just putting 1/4" holes in brick for anchors but might run 3/8" bolts into solid concrete flooring if I'm able to at the same time.

For the brick, you can use any hammer drill. Even cordless like this Ryobi
    [IMG]
But the concrete floor would go faster with a powerful corded model.

I have rented at Aurora Rents before. Should be $30 4 hours or $40 day.
