I opted for a rare version of the mirror with all four. HomeLink, temperature, compass, and Autodim. If you only wat. Temperature, compass, and Autodim it’s pretty cheap and easy to find.

I agree that the Gentex mirror seems to be the best all around option. And since they've come factory installed in countless vehicles for quite a long time I would assume their pretty reliable and give relatively accurate readings.

I wonder if there are any that have the temperature and compass but don't auto-dim? I still like to be able to manually flip my mirror haha. I know I can't be too picky though :)

You can turn off the auto-dim.

But no, I believe Autodim is standard on most if not all Gentex mirrors. Once you go to Autodim you’ll never go back.

Ok. And as far mounting, does it mount directly in place of the stock mirror? It looks like the stock mirror does not have the so-called "wedge style mount" and is also connected to the map light unit.

No you have to epoxy a mirror wedge. The Tacoma has an unconventional mounting method of hanging it from the map light.

The Gentex 453 model is the newer version and the one I switched to.

If you are having issues gluing the wedge to the glass most large windshield companies will
Glue the wedge on for free, that’s what I did.

The advantage having the temperature is knowing when the roads have turned
to ice if you live in an area that gets cold.

Here is my setup with some comparisons
