UN threatens Second and First Amendments

The United Nations is holding secret closed meetings to work out a global arms trade treaty. The agreement, which could be finished by 2012, is a threat to Americans' Second and First Amendment rights.
"Some type of micro-stamping regulations seems all but inevitable. It is very, very likely," the Heritage Foundation's Theodore R. Bromund, who tracks the U.N., told The Washington Times. "Restrictions on trade between private individuals are somewhat less than 50-50, but you surely can't rule that out. Some kind of gun registration and licensing system is an extremely likely probability." Registration proposals cover guns as well as individual rounds of ammunition.
The Obama administration strongly supports the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty and no doubt will use the process to push for gun-control regulations that it can't get through Congress otherwise.
A lot of baloney is floating in Turtle Bay. Gun registration is being promoted despite evidence that the costly bureaucratic system has been a complete failure in solving any crimes or stopping criminals from getting access to guns everywhere it's been tried. "None of these treaties have a relationship to reality," Mr. Bromund explains. "Terrorists are still going to have access to guns because governments give them guns, and they are still going to be able to give them guns." As an example, he pointed out, "The FARC fighting in Colombia get their guns from Venezuela."
As with everything that goes down at the U.N.'s headquarters on Manhattan's East River, America will pick up a disproportionate share of the tab to implement the treaty, with all those countries considered most "in need" taking another free ride. This is counterproductive even without the usual fraud and waste that hobble U.N. programs.
Gun rights aren't the only thing would-be globocops are targeting in the treaty. There is a U.N. discussion paper advancing "the reduction of violence in the media and in video games" as well as "sustained efforts at reeducation and reorientation of [member state] citizens." Whatever the plan, that can't be good for the First Amendment.
Any U.N. Arms Trade Treaty will undermine freedom around the world. The right to bear arms is an individual's protection against oppression anywhere. It took herculean efforts by George W. Bush's administration to thwart this U.N. power grab a few years ago. Unfortunately, we now have a left-wing White House working to make this dangerous treaty a reality.

What's the point? You'll never lose your guns, people, under any administration. Under republican leadership you'll have less hoops to jump through to own them, and that's the only difference with regards to firearms related amendments. This administration, like every other liberal White House, is all for firearm regulation and restriction, and anybody who's surprised by that is a ponce.

Next term, Obama is out (good riddance) and who knows which political knob will replace him, but rest assured: there will be a whole new set of useless things for the populace to ponder over. That's our government. It's all bullshit. Every single one of them. Whatever the government, whichever the political party, whenever the time period (in my 33 year lifetime, at least) our country has been run by CORPORATIONS. Rich people - laughing about how people get their nuts in a bunch over abortion, gun control, environmental issues, and the rest of the ilk on the news. It's a smoke screen, designed to keep people unaware of the shit this government pulls under the not-so-watchful eye of WHOEVER is president. You see? Nothing will ever be concretely done with ANY of the major republican/democrat party issues, because that negates the need for "somebody new" to come in and fix things.....regardless of what side you're on.

If you readers think Obama is a P.O.S, I'm with you. If you think his predecessors are equally retarded, we should go bowling.

Pretty great stuff I wanted to add. It's from Playboy's Rogues of K Streetarticle, written by an anonymous Tea Party organizer. This stuff exists in abundance on BOTH sides of the political party, and it's how people get elected.

"I've created more than my share of fake grassroots organizations. Some were downright evil but effective beyond expectations. Did you get an automated call from the sister of a 9/11 victim asking you to reelect President Bush in 2004? That was me. Did you get a piece of mail with the phrase "supports abortion on demand as a means of birth control?" That was me too."

And here's a sample letter that some of you "on the fence-ers" might get just in time for next election:

    Dear (insert name),
I received my Troubled Asset Relief Program check from you and other taxpayers and wanted to personally thank you for your money. I will now be able to keep the third car and vacation home by (insert name of nearby vacation area).
I particularly want to thank (insert name of congressman) for ensuring billionaires like me do not have to worry about petty things like mortgage payments and retirement. (Insert name of congressman) has been instrumental in making sure billionaires like me are protected.

    Warm regards,
    (name of Wall Street billionaire)

P.S. (Insert name of our candidate) opposes runaway government spending. He will vote to protect taxpayers, not billionaires like me.

Then whatever dipshit gets in office doesn't do anything......"because of the opposing party." If only I didn't have so and so interfering. It's all shit.

The British were told that fox hunting, etc, are such a classic British pastime that there is no way that long guns would be restricted. The British government would never take those away, just those evil handguns!

... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_the_United_Kingdom#1997_Firearms_Act The British olympic team must practice abroad or in North Ireland.

My point being, never say never.

I suppose it's feasible to compare the British government with the United States', seeing as how a British corporation is pretty much running shit after a greed-fueled 'natural' disaster they caused on our soil. BP has more clout than our president, guaranteed. Whether or not you see that as a bad thing is purely what floats your boat.

Say, we just celebrated Independence Day, fellow patriots, so let's keep the comparisons to Britain at a minimum. We separated for a reason.

You're right though, never say never. Good advice.

Yup. I hope that our origin as a country that fought for its freedom doesn't get lost, and I don't advocate paranoia, I just want everybody to keep in mind that things nobody believes can happen do happen. :)

It's because most everyone is soooo fat and prosperous compared to our forefathers that most people couldn't give a shit!

The politicians - they see politics as a way to succeed for them selves - not for the masses!

It may take a true disaster for the average Joe to be represented by our govenment.

Must be nice to be a thin super intelligent person.....

Lets also keep in mind that before anything legally effect American lives with the force of law...It needs to get thru the legislative process...Not just be signed off by the UN.
It's worth watching...but not that closely. There are plenty more things that could use more immediate attention.
