I have had 4.88's for 1.5 years now. Have had the OVtune just over that. I have had the best results on 1.03 as far as holding gears on highway, power, MPG's. Was able to get around 17 MPG's not going over 65MPH after 65MPH MPG's really took a hit 13-14. Been on 1.05 base for since it came out and found it lacked the tip in of 1.03 and MPG's of 1.03 and it did not hold gears on highway as the way 1.03 did. I just upgraded to B04 and i am on 1.05 performance 87 Tip in is awesome highway gears seem to be as good if not a little better then 1.03! I have been on 1.05 87 Performance for only about a week and it feels as if it is getting better each day i drive. If i didnt move up a tire size to a 34" tire i think the tune would have negated the need for gears! 285 /70/17's will be able to run really well i think with just the 1.05 performance tunes! Want to add my truck is extremely heavy with all the mods installed. Waiting to get tunes released that are specific for heavy lifted trucks and speedo correction will help alot!

Shift points are better with gears but still not what you think they should be. You still cant hold 6th gear on hills or inclines ,but it does accelerate in 6th on level roads without having to drop down a gear or 2!

download a copy from one of the many links.
download and run the .cuw executable file, no need to open
techstream, the file just needs to see that it's installed and
follow the prompts, it's just like installing a tune.

Gears will help a lot. I haven’t saved enough money yet. I usually drive in S4 in town and S5 on the highway until I get above 70mph. I even get better gas mileage driving this way compared to D mode. I’ll probably do 4.88s in the spring.

RPM targets are just a little off in D.

Does any here drive their truck like a maniac?? On the interstate, I go a LOT over the speed limit. In town, only 5mph over. I've NEVER seen a gain in fuel economy, perhaps because I drive like the aforementioned maniac.

So are you saying if you could do it over again, just do the 5.29s?

Sorry not trying to turn this into another gear thread but curious about which one to go with on the tune.

With 5.29s and stock tune the shift points are all messed up and the trucks top speed is limited to 86mph.

    Something to be aware of.

Also our next batch of cables just arrived today so orders with tracking that has not updated will tomorrow.

I am also experiencing something similar. My truck drove like a dream on 04B03 with butter smooth shifting but I wanted to see the performance tune so I did the TSB to 04B04 and flashed to 87 performance after about 5 days on the 87 base 04B03. The tune was too aggressive for me so I flashed to the base 87 and reset the learning. Followed all the instructions found on this thread and the past 2 days the truck drives horribly. Every time it shifts it feels like I am tapping the break or something. It also acts like it does not know when to shift at times. Really wish I could get it back to how it felt on the 04B03 87 base tune. Hope it is just a matter of time for the truck to adjust. I am not sure what to do if it keeps this up.

You have to put miles on it. How many miles did you have on 04B03?

And I highly recommend everyone stop flashing so often.

Yeah I admit I probably flashed WAY too soon from 03 base to 04 performance to 04 base. It was about 150 miles on 03 base but only like 30 miles on 04 performance before going to 04 base. I am going to give it a few tanks of gas to see if it improves.

No i would not do the 5.29's. With Toyota's disastrous Motor & Transmission i dont see it helping unless i was going to jump up to 37" tires. I am about as good as this truck will be less the future lifted, bigger tires tunes still to come!

Yep. We just hope everyone remembers we are doing nearly all levels with this process, working bottom up.
    1. Disassembling raw processor code
    2. Understanding the calibration logic
    3. Testing, testing, testing
    4. Patching code
    5. Testing
    6. Developing the tune
    7. Developing on new ecu versions,

We don't just have a already done software or tuning suite like big companies (Cobb, sct, etc) we are doing this from the tiniest bits, literally.

It's time consuming but we'll worth it in the end as this ensures that I, who is providing the actual tunes, isn't just editing maps or "giving it a few degrees of advance" I have the in depth understanding of what's going on at the processor / code level..which makes it possible to make the absolute best tune possible.

We're only limited by our development.
And of course doing all this can cause delays which we apologize for.

We recently got a complete (fully complete) RAM dump on this ECU, a feat that was all but impossible before, and because of that, new goodies

Only after flashing a tune. You know to set fuel trims and over-ride learned values.
