Wow, great looking brisket and ends!! Nice Job!!

Well, I have been thinking about trying to make some smoked sausage. I have helped mix Polish sausage in the past, but never on my own. So, this showed up today:

Now I need to find the casings to stuff it into, and a trip to Costco for meat. Once I get around to it, I will take pics.

If you have a restaurant supply store around try them. That’s where I get mine.

    NICE!
I have a grinder attachment for my Kitchenaid on the way, won it super cheap. But the only thing is, I saw on a group where someone stripped the gear in their mixer trying to grind semi-frozen meat. I know some of their tilt stand mixers have plastic gears, but I can't seem to find a definite answer to whether mine (KitchenAid Artisan tilt stand mixer) has metal gears or not. Have to wonder if there is an upgrade available if not. Anyone know?

I would google the product number and look at the description. If it mentions an electric overload shutoff then no sacrificial gear. If it doesn’t say anything about an overload shutoff then it prolly has the nylon gear. Replacement gear is like $3 and a greasy 1/2 hour to replace lol.
I sold that one and have one with the overload protection now :)

What model # u have? Should be a series of numbers and letters on the side of the mixer head, usually begins with a “k” I think

    Thanks for the quick insight.

I REALLY can't complain. I bought this unit, apparently lightly used, for $47 shipped to my door from shopgoodwill.com. Sure, I had to buy a bowl ($20 on Amazon for a 4 quart- plenty for my needs), but that isn't a problem.

I bought the grinder attachment from the same outfit, $50 shipped. It comes with a big bowl, another dough hook and beater bar, etc. Can't complain!
