Upgraded from my D60 to an EOS 60D today, I'm curious to see how much difference it makes in editing as even shooting RAW with my D60 the image quality dropped sharply with light editing.

The 60D came with a 2.2X telephoto converter, could one of you gentleman tell me what its use is?

I only had a few minutes before the sunset while the battery was charging so I only got a handful of pictures but I like this one, I just wish the ripples were a little more visible.

It multiplies your effective focal length. In this case 2.2 times.

It's likely only good as a paper weight. Your image quality will suffer when using it but YMMV.

It also doubles (shrinks) the effective aperature of the lens. An f4 lens becomes f6.3 for example. It allows in 4 times less light when in use.

I got to get out and shoot a little with the 60D and an 18-200 lens, it's much better than my D60, I do need to pick up a lens hood though, and I would really like to get a tripod at some point.

Anyone ever sent anything to Canon for repair? I took my camera out of the bag for the first time in a few months. Something inside the lens is rattling around and sometimes it wont focus. I was able to get through that for a few shots.

What is it that you want them to do? Their repair process is pretty efficient. I have sent a couple of bodies to them that were repaired and returned in a couple of weeks. Warranty work in both cases.

Just pull it apart and fix it. I know it wont be warranty. This is the first issue I have had with my gear so I am not really sure if Canon is the place to go, or if there is some place better.

There are other places, I’m sure. But when you send gear to them, they will call back with an estimate for you to approve.

I have no idea how to judge independent facilities.

Well this isn't how I wanted/imagined my first post was going to be in this thread.

I bought a Canon 5D mk iv with the 24-105 lens one week ago, and received it in the mail today. I was all excited and opened it up and waited for the battery to charge. Once it was fully charged I put it into the camera, and did the set up part (date/time) and set a few other settings.

Then it came time to snap the first photo, and it turned out amazing (of one of my dogs) and then I shot two more and I felt I already got my money's worth...well at least I did for that split second, because right after that I got the dreaded Error 20.

3 pictures in and I already got the Error 20. I took out the battery multiple times and restarted it and let it sit for a bit, and nothing worked.

I just sent an email to CPS and we'll see what they say hopefully tomorrow. I'm hoping that if I have to take it somewhere or send it in I can at have it back for next week when I go to Anza Borrego, or at least have a loaner.

Sorry for the long rant, but I am just frustrated that it happened to a brand new camera 3 shots in.

Anybody else deal with this? And how did you remediate the problem?
