I just wanted to share some photos I took of my Tacoma on a recent road trip. So far, I couldn't be happier with my setup.

As expected the OEM tires are not great in the soft sand, but I never got stuck, nor did I air down (Next time I will).

I literally pressure washed the undercarriage about 5 minutes after getting off the beach.

I knew what I was getting my self into and decided not to air down and just avoid anything that may cause me to get stuck.

    All the things!

    This picture gives me anxiety...
    • You're sitting in salt water
    • You're a potential victim of the tide
    • Stopping on soft sand in the wave breaking zone is a formula for getting stuck
    • You didn't air down
Glad you had fun, but you clearly have bigger balls than me.

It was a lot of fun. To address your concerns, it was pretty well thought out and had nothing to do with balls.
    • I pressure washed the entire rig right after leaving the sand.
    • The tide looks dramatic in the photos, but there was about 100ft+ between any waves and where I parked. (Low tide)
    • The sand was actually pretty hard packed in that area, at least for how wet it was.
    • I didn't want to deal with airing down and then airing back up. I had a shovel and recovery gear with me. Plus there were 100+ trucks around. I knew that someone would love the opportunity to play rescue if I got in over my head. With that assessment, I just focused on not getting over my head and having fun.
I have some other good photos of the truck offroad that I may post. In that situation, I decided to air down and it made a big difference.

In hen sight, I should have aired down, just to be safe.

Pismo, I assume. Can't think of anywhere else in CA that allows a vehicle on the beach.

The potential for rust gives me anxiety...

A pressure washer will not remove 100% of the salt water.

I absolutely agree. But at the end of the day, I bought a truck because it allowed me to explore new places and take the beating I wasn't willing to put my cars through. So while I will always do my best to keep the truck in great condition, I wont let the fear of damage restrict my travels or exploration.

Reading some of these posts makes me wonder if some even take their "fragile selves" out of the garage if their is dew on the ground!
What would you say to the driver of this Toyota truck?

No judgment from me. Everyone has to make choices based on their own situation.

Here is another photo of my truck from a few months ago. The exploring was a lot of fun, cleaning was not. I am not sure I will ever let it get this muddy again.
