Finally received my Hella H9s from rallylights. Ordered mid February and received them today; however, not their fault as they've been swamped with tacomaworld orders. They had to be dropshipped from Hella. I ordered the harness on ebay and took a dremel right down the middle. Installed tonight and I'm excited to see the difference on the road! Put the stock bulbs in the boxes from Hella and put them in my tub in the bed in case the hella's burn out on the road. Super appreciative of you crashnburn, this thread is amazing!!

I thought the point of the harness was to make the hella bulbs plug right in with no modifications

Yeah, you just dremel the plastic away down the middle on the harness and they're plug and play. You can see the H9s plugged into the harness in my 3rd pic.

The harness you’re thinking of isn’t made yet. The harness he posted is the way to go if you’re not wanting to wait for Rally to make it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, @crashnburn80

    Ahhh okay.

Oh okay, I guess I misunderstood how the harness was set up. Simple enough tho to just dremel it

Let us know what you think once you get it out on the road at night, preferably somewhere away from any urban light pollution!

That is correct. Still waiting on the H11->H9 HD plug and play harness. But Headlight Services said they would make it.

I was going to replace my OEM head lamps to LEDs however after following this forum it convinced me to get some halogens bulbs instead. I have rigid industries fog lamps and I need recommendations for my headlights. Thanks.

Good thing you did your research ahead of time. The Hella Osram Hypers are easily the best bang for the buck, referenced in post #2 of this thread. You will need to trim an internal plastic tab with a small knife for plug and play.
    https://www.rallylights.com/hl78178-h9-12v-65w-xenon-bulb.html

The TRD Pro Rigid LED fogs are somewhat disappointing in performance. The Rigid SAE pods or KC G4’s are far higher performing if you are interested in improving those, see my other thread here:

I appreciate the fast feedback. The rigid industries came stock with my tacoma.

When you say I need to cut the plastic tab are there videos or pictures i can use for installation? I’m really not that savvy when it comes to modifications.

Edit: I just saw a video on YouTube to convert H9 bulbs to fit the H11. Seems pretty easy. I’ll do more research for other bulbs, I’m kind of leaning towards either GE +130 also for H11 bulbs if I don’t want to go through that whole modification process.

Yep, use a small knife and remove the internal top tab of the bulb as shown below. If not wanting to do that the GE +130 H11s are an excellent option. I realize the Rigids came on the Pro, I was just pointing out there are much higher performing options available than what Toyota included on the truck, if you were interested in upgrading.

Finally got my shipment confirmation for the Hellas. ETA 3/13/19 coming direct from Hella.

Received my GE h11 +130's yesterday and installed this morning. This thread has made me irrationally excited about seeing the output of these bulbs for the first time later tonight (combined country and city driving).

Also, I now find myself noticing and judging other vehicles with LED's placed in their halogen housings...can't even imagine the angst felt by @crashnburn80 in these instances.

Are the ge lights life span really only like 100 hours on average?

They are rated for approx. 150 hours. For my uses and habits, they should last about one year.

That’s true I guess. I don’t do a lot of night driving as it is but the life span just sounded short. I’m curious how white they are compared to the stock hals
