Is it just me, or does everywhere (im talking the whole USA) seem to be fresh out of 265/75R16 (non LT) Defenders?

I went into americas (discount) tire the other day to try and get rid of the horrible Cooper AT3's i have on my truck and they couldnt even order the Michelin's what gives?

Sorry that your first choice is not available!

The SL version is on national back order, unfortunately - even secondary suppliers are out.

    Sadly this promo ended recently.

Nonetheless, we still guarantee the lowest out the door price - if a competitor has a cheaper out the door price, we'll beat it!

As of right now, there is no firm ETA, but let me see if I can find any further info regarding a production date.

    I’ll save you the trouble.

As of 3 weeks ago, calls to Michelin CS by me, America’s tire, and discount tires revealed that there was no date in the system for production of p265/75/16 defender ltx.

OP. If you aren’t lifted, the 265/70/16 is a great choice. I was skeptical (coming from 265/70/17 hankook atm’s) at first but I’m very glad I went that route. The truck looks balanced and utilitarian (and obviously the defenders are the tire a vast, vast majority of tacomaworld should be using anyway).

I put the 265/70/16’s on a set of take off 2018 trd off road wheels and they look fantastic even with the smaller tire.

The 1 mpg pickup (with correction) was a nice cherry on top.

I agree stick with the 265/70/16 size for better performance and economy, can you post up some pictures of your rim/tire setup im interested to see the 3rd gen rims with the stock sized defenders on a 2nd gen truck, im thinking of this same route since its getting more difficult to find 2nd gen TRD alloy offroad rims in the 16" at least in my area of the country.

Accipiter13 is right - I just heard back from my support team and right now there is no planned production date which means no, ETA.

If we can help you select another model or size that suits your needs please let us know and we'll make sure you're taken care of

For reference, the 265/70R-16 SL version is readily available.

Hey, sorry, I try not to post pictures online - personal Hangup.

I would recommend you peruse this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-2nd-gen-with-3rd-gen-wheels.395619/

And pay special attention to the guys who use the 3rd gen wheels with the takeoff stock 265/70/16 tires (Goodyear wranglers). The defenders look very similar on the truck. The 3rd gen off-road wheels make the truck look up to date and very, very well balanced with any tire size.

The difference is night and day, and frankly, is a big reason why I've decided to keep my second gen long term. It's amazing what a little change will do to keep your truck fresh.

Good luck finding P265/75/16's. I looked and waited for 4 months. ZERO national stock and no estimated production date from michelin.

Americas tire is not showing backorder now... says they can order them and have em in 5-7 days... interesting. I guess ill keep dealing with these loud ass cooper at3's through summer and jump on the Michelins when i can.

Weird, I had to buy 265/70/16s from America’s tire 2 weeks ago. I called Michelin the day I had to buy and they said zero stock and no production date.

I will be PISSED if they are available now.

What you're describing is actually a glitch with the display rules. Some products will show as available for special order or within a certain time frame regardless of actual availability. Hopefully, it's resolved soon!

I double checked stock and the 265/75R-16 SL Defender LTX M/S is still on B/O with no firm ETA,

What type of 4 wheeling or just daily driving do you do? I ask because you seem VERY satisfied with the Defenders. Any mud, loose dirt, ice or snow?

Fire roads, sand dunes, general messing around off road, but nothing crazy, nothing that needs an AT tire off road. I do often find myself on icy / snowy roads and have in my past expirence found nothing better than the defender ltx for icy / light snow (plowed) roads thats an all season tire. .

Honestly, in real mud - AT’s turn to slicks as quick as the defenders.

The ms2’s and defenders on my work trucks have taken me just about everywhere within reason.
