Thanks, and the 87/91/93 are OEM tunes? Thats the part that confuses me. I figured the FOB was FO.2 basically, but the base tunes are where I dont understand

No, the 87,91,92 are the MPG tunes. The OEM tune is the "Stock" choice. You would pick this instead of "1.05"

Oooo and see I thought only the auto guys got the MPG tunes. How much improvement does the MT see with the mpg tunes? Anually I do a massive road trip, so that could be interesting.

I went 87 FOB right out of the gate. I do 80 miles a day, Max speed is 55 MPH stock gears and tires. maybe 20 miles or so of that is going through a couple small towns. I am getting 20.8 to 21.1 right now on winter gas.

We dont get winter gas down here, so I cant compare evenly. With cooper at3 265/75/16 at 65 and 3 guys and some gear I can do about 22mpg. Just me and some gear I can manage 23-24

I am currently carrying 200 pounds of rock salt in the bed right now, (for weight and traction aid if needed), plus about another 100 pounds of assorted tools. The extra weight of salt or sand is just something we do up here, so I don't really even think about it any more when doing MPG comparisons, but I suppose I should at least mention it, for full disclosure.

I’d rather be able to work the clutch with heel toe movement than having to move my entire leg up and down which is what I’m doing now.

I thought doing the rod free play adjustment was to fix this exact issue? My clutch grabs and releases way too high off the floor for my liking. Is rod free play adjustment a fix for this? Sorry I think I’m getting myself confused.

I think you are correct here, and I believe there is also a spring that you can fiddle with

Ok cool. I understand not wanting the release/grab bottoming out the floorboard, but I don’t know how anyone would ever WANT it closer to the top. My left leg has to do some serious work in stop and go traffic the way it is now lol

Just to be clear, if you follow the procedure in the SM with respect to clutch rod free play adjustment, you're not going to move the release point away from the top all that much. If anything, you'll create a "gap" between the pedal assy and the rod. You'll see when you get under there and fiddle with the lock nut and rod. All I'm saying is that for those ppl thinking you can adjust this thing to where you want it - well you can't really. It's still going to be quite near the top of the stroke. When I adjusted out the "click" in my clutch, it moved the release point a bit closer to the top, actually. I did the adjustment within spec, to ensure the clutch was not being partially disengaged when the pedal was fully released.

Not really. There's no adjustment in the spring. You either leave it in place or take it out if you really want to. Or mash some grease into it, to try and destroy the barn door creak!

I would be willing to help mat with dynos. Since I pretty much have a stock car with 91 FOB tune. I could flash it to stock, dyno it, then flash the tune to see differences. Stock tires, engine, transmission, etc. Just some little more weight from side steps

I was playing the fat kid today. 420lb in the bed (300lb of foam and 120lb of sand):
    IMG_20190307_110718.jpg

This is for the run from Tacoma to Arlington with the load in some stop and go traffic:
    IMG_20190307_110351.jpg

So far, only one full tank (407mi) on 87 FOB that calculated to 19.5mpg.

I think there's no correct answer here, I was taught to always fully depress the clutch, so it makes more sense for me to have the grab point closer to the floor. I guess you were told to only depress as much as you need it, so I was either taught wrongly and need to adapt my driving now or both are good way to operate a clutch lol

Depressing the clutch all the way is the safest, there is no question there. Anything past that is driver preference. I like my clutch to engage about half way in trucks and Zin cars I want it right off the floor

300 miles today at 70 mph averaging 20-21 mpg on FOB with 87e0 winter fuel. Way better than the 17-18 on any previous tune.
