Sounds like time for some trigger and throttle therapy.

Picked up one of these last week.

Evidently Ruger dropped the .30'06 from the lineup in this particular model. I was able to get a new one for a tremendous discount. Worked out great, because it's the caliber I wanted, anyway.

I like the shim kit....I'll be able to adjust the length of pull to a more comfortable fit. As a taller shooter, this is a great feature.

Hardwood laminated camo-dipped stock. I didn't expect the checkering to be very aggressive feeling, but it actually does give a nice gripping surface.

Another think I like about the rifle.....the brake is easily removed and replaced with an included weighted piece that is advertised to shoot to the same point of impact. I'll use it for the pre-season range sessions and use the non-ported weight for hunting.

Saving up some funds for some glass for it.

I know what I want to put on it.....just have to get the pennies saved up.

I may have posted in this in the wrong spot......I'm no long range shooter, by any means. My use for this gun will be deer hunting. In the past my local deer hunting shots are typically 150 yards or less.....with the exception being stands on power lines and clearcuts.

I have some out of state hunt possibilities I'm hoping on for next season and wanted to get a gun set up for the cut cornfield ranges I may see.

To me....a 300 yard shot is like 10 miles.

I've got a 200 yard practice range just a few miles from the house that I plan on getting plenty of practice at. Gonna set up this one with 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tips (most likely) with a 200 yd zero.

I've got a buddy who is into 1,000yd target shooting who I can go with and get some trigger time with this gun out to 400 or so. Not saying that I intend to take that shot....but I'd like to get some practice with doing so.

The only unethical shot is the one where you're wondering if you're gonna hit while squeezing the trigger. 400 with a 30-06 on deer or elk is plenty doable, especially with a modern bullet like an ELDX or ABLR.

Very sweet rifles & glass. That VX-6HD is one of the scopes I've been looking at lately. I like everything about it.

Bought a Sako 75 Finnlite 308 online. Should be in next week or so. Not surewhat scope I’ll put on it, but wanting to get into long range shooting with it and use for hunting.

Try a Tikka. My dad's 7mm Rem Mag T3 shoots consistent clover leaf groups at 100 yards, and it's not a super expensive rifle. I personally love my $600 Savage, but it's not quite as accurate as my dad's Tikka T3.
