of course that thread devolved into a typical 3rd gen meme-filled shitshow within the first handful of posts lol. Never fails

I've haven't given it too much thought until lately but you're right, I do seem to be getting blinded on the road a lot more in the past few years...I just figured there were more idiots running around with their high beams on by mistake but it's probably due to the LED 'upgrade' craze and everyone putting LED's in the halogen housings. I usually flash someone with my roof lights if their headlights blind me. Funny thing is, I've had a few people immediately pull over when I do that thinking I'm a cop. Which is also fun to do to people that run stop signs. I kind of want to put red/blue gels over them, if only impersonating a cop wasn't a felony.

Don't 3rd gens have hids? And I have led bulbs but I'm switching back to halogens this weekend. I do have the beam pattern of a halogen though, so I got it right. but I like the more yellow from halogen in fog and rain.

I don't know about the 3rd gen housings but in general I just hate it. Sure, it's nice to see everything all lit up and perhaps my aging eyes are just a bit too sensitive to the light out put of oncoming LEDs but seriously - safety issue. Especially when they don't even bother re-aiming their lights.

I have LEDs in the tail/brake lights and am a hair away from swapping those out as well. They are way too bright. I'll keep my turns/sidemarkers /reverse LED but the rest are conventional bulbs.

I changed my wife's headlights out last year because one of the bulbs had burnt out, she came home the next night and told me people kept flashing her....sure enough I forgot to aim them. Went out and checked and one was pointed kind of down and to the side and the other was aimed high, like a googly-eyed fish or something. Felt like a dick lol.

I don't what it is but I feel like since I hit 30 my eyes are way more sensitive to bright light than they used to be, especially when I was a kid. Might be because I work inside most of the day now and probably spend too much time staring at a computer screen or trying to focus through a camera....need to give me eyes a vacation but dunno how a person does that. My last eye exam they told me I'm getting minor astigmatism in one eye, never had that before.

haha, I'm blind as a bat without my contacts in...have been since I was ~13. I rarely ever wear glasses though which is probably something I could start doing to give my eyes a bit of a break...I ordered some new ones a few days ago.

Eventually I'm going to get laser surgery but it's still too fucking expensive, and not one of those things I want to find the "cheapest" price on.

Always wanted to try contacts but I've had that fear of it slipping back behind my eyeball and getting stuck hahaha. Optometrist has always reassured me it can't happen but hell no. my luck, id be the first case o_O

uh I've known a couple people that's happened to and both had to get surgery to get it removed....so it is possible. Maybe not "behind" your eyeball but far enough back that you can't retrieve it. I've had mine come close a couple times but have been able to get it out. The only time that could happen is if you rub your eyes really hard with contacts in, which of course you shouldn't do but sometimes you forget lol. But yeah it's not entirely an unfounded fear.
I've been wearing them every day for nearly 20 years though and that's happened maybe twice.

I have fallen asleep with mine on and woken up with them gone... Not a clue where they had gone, most likely somehow fell out but never know. Contacts are savior most days because glasses would fall off with much of what I do. I kinda want to get lasik though

99.9% of the time if you sleep in them or rub your eyes hard they will just fall out if anything, having them fold up and go into your eye is extremely rare. But if you wear them everyday for years then even the rare stuff is bound to happen once or twice.

I get really bad eye allergies every spring and have protein buildup under my eyelids (apparently) that make them super fucking itchy and my contacts won't stay in...they literally fall out of my eyes lol. It sucks, I want laser surgery too. I wish insurance would cover that, seems weird that they don't these days. Would save them money in the long run over having to pay for constant contact refills or glasses. Although I guess contacts and glasses these days are pretty damn cheap compared to several years ago.
