OBD Fusion tips and tricks

According to Mode $06, I can see as few as 1 misfire, and as many as 29. It’s usually round 10-13.

Right now, I’m logging mass air flow rate and total misfire count.

I know mass air flow rate is important, but I don’t know what to look for to identify a problem.

The line for my misfire count is weird on the graph. Not sure if I have it set up right. It’s hard for me to understand. Some of the misfires show up as a spike and others show up as a plateau Anybody know how to make it look legible?

I’d like to monitor other stuff, but I’m not sure which to monitor... knock sensor? Anyway, even if y’all suggested a few, I’m not sure what’s normal and what’s concerning.

 

Just logged 38 misfires. Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction in terms of which things to monitor and what “out of line” looks like. I have Techstream now if Fusion can’t do whatever is needed.

Looking for a better faster obd2 adapter than what I have. The elm32 is good but slow to report. Anyone have a recommendation on a fast polling adapter

 

My thoughts as well about the Carista dongle.

 

The carista is most likely the same adapter in a different shell. Inused my generic elm327 with carista no problem. Doubt they spent extra to deploy anfast read device when their target isnt reading pids

I'm leaning towards and OBD link LX. Apparently it will read over a hundred PIDs a second. The generic elm327 apparently only reads 15 to 20 per second

 

Wish I knew this before I got the Carista adapter. I was hoping to be able to use it to monitor some stuff besides just changing some settings. Any ideas as to what the limit might be as far what I can accurately monitor?

 

Oh it will work fine. Keep your gauges under 13 and it seems to update pretty quickly. I deleted some to speed up the polling and it's working good.

Here's my current dashboard.
I really like the layout and PIDs I've got, but yeah, it's a little slow; especially because there are a few gauges where I overlaid a digital reading on top of the same analog (looking) gauge so that I could set a wider range on the digital compared to the analog range I was forced to use for visual purposes.
Still need to try the faster polling option, but will ultimately probably end up scaling this one back.

I copied that idea for the ring around the gear indicator as the TC lockup indication.
And you can't tell here since they're at the same temp, but I have a second, blue needle on the trans temp gauge for the pan temp.

 

So the MX is 59.95 right now on Amazon. What does the OBDlink app and extra PIDS cost if buying another bluetooth reader? Everything is included if getting the MX one, including the tacoma PIDS? Just trying to figure out the best deal.

 

OBD fusion is 5 for app 10 for taco pids. a decent adapter listed below is 8 bucks.

 

Thanks and what about the torque app? Is that better or not as good as fusion?

 

not better for the taco. torque doesnt have a 10th of the pids obd fusion has. I have both and get a lot more done with obdfusion.

 

Where did you find gear number? Also - I can't find oil pressure anywhere. Isn't that the most important stat?
