I've heard the same things but haven't found anything concrete. I've used my VR a couple times now, once for an actual recovery out of necessity, no issues. Looks and feels like Warn quality to me and they have the same warranty

Well hell, if the price difference is huge, and the warranty is the same, i might try one of those as well. Hell even if it craps out on me, i could buy another for less than the price of the other one lol

Just go hydraulic and never look back. My 9000lb hydraulic MileMarker was a beast. Used it all the time, broke three cables before I put 10k synthetic. Should have pulled that damn thing off when I sold the Jeep. Dealer sure didn't do me any favors on my trade-in.

    This is an old post

The WARN VR Series winches are not rebadged Tabors, they're not just rebadged M-series winches, and they're not being bought from a Chinese factory and having WARN logos slapped on 'em.

The WARN VR winches have different motors, geartrains, remotes, and finishes vs. the M-series, and the Tabor winches have been discontinued in North America (and, the VR are still not just old Tabors with new names). The VR Series are backed by the same limited lifetime warranty that we have on all of our other 12V truck winches, and we test them just like all of our other winches. These are currently on our assembly lines in Oregon.

Yes, some of the parts come from global suppliers, but other parts are also are made in our Oregon plants. In addition, they're all designed, engineered, tested, and built in Clackamas, OR.

I hope this clears up some confusion.

    Yup.
And if you buy from 4wp they'll replace it no questions asked anyway.

Good to know, is this just a vendor customer service/warranty thing in addition to the Warn lifetime one?

Good analogy. I do that with Kobalt tools from Lowes. I've traded my broken 14mm ratcheting wrench in probably 3 or 4 times now lol. Need to go and get another actually

Just because one person had a bad experience doesn't mean the product is crap

Gonna add those to the list as well. Anything to make the winch work less is a good thing imo
