OEM Gear Ratio Chart

My code says BO4A/. What does the "/" mean at the end?

 

Anyone know what the ratio is for a 1999 2.4L 2wd 5spd 5lug tacoma?

Anyone else’s 4cyl ‘01 automatic 4x4 regular cab have b04a/? According to the chart that’s 4.56 which is higher than I expected.

 

What conclusion or solution did you come up with? I'm sitting here with B02A on a 2.7L Manual Trans 4x4

 

How easy was this to wire in? I remember seeing it in your build thread awhile back. I'm no wiring guru but I'm interested in doing this to my 2002 single cab

 

It was really easy to do. Here's what I posted about it in my old build page. Let me know if you need clarification on any part of it.
DD Wiring:
Ground to Blue
Power to Pink
Signal In to Green/Red (Factory taped up side)
Out 2 to Green/Red (harness side)

Yeah I used 3M two sided sticky tape and stuck it to the top of ceiling of the glove box towards the left side. This made it easy to reach while driving to adjust it.

So I have an 04 Tacoma and the numerical value of that axle code is 08. So its A08A. Is there more values than just 7?

 

Should be 3.42

 

I would like to know this too. It's confusing. I've spent hours looking around on Google, reading threads and following links because there doesn't seem to be a consensus. I will call my dealer tomorrow morning with my vin# and the vin# of the donor vehicle in question. The code on the door jam for the gear ratio of the axle in my 2002 2wd reg. cab 2.4L 5sp manual is A02A, which according to most of the threads I've read is a 3.58 ratio; however, post #89 above indicates it's a 3.73. I'm not sure where that literature came from but it does not jive with the info from others and it doesn't look to be from Toyota, either. Maybe someone here with real knowledge will accurately disclose the axle ratios for the codes on the 1st gen Tacoma door tags?

I believe there are more than seven available ratios for the 1st gen pickups. Not sure how many but A08A seems to correspond with a 7.5" yoke and a 3.727 ratio, yet in post #89 above, it indicates nothing for A08A. Again, I hope someone will clear this up. After all these years, I cannot believe there isn't an exhaustive and accurate description in PDF format. If there is, I hope someone will post it.

 

Here's what I've got on mine. 1995.5 2.7L Manual 4x4. Unfortunately, it's in CA and I'm in VT right now. I'll just have to wait to figure this out, but it looks like I'll be playing a counting game with my nieces.

Edit: Just noticed the axle code is at the bottom of the bar code instead of next to it. Thankfully, I won't be counting.

 

So, I'm looking to pick up a refurbed complete axle on Craigslist. The owner no longer has the truck to check the code on the door jamb. It's from a 2000 V6 4x4 Automatic. I have an '04 V6 4x4 Automatic with a 4:10. Is there a chance the 2000 has a different gear ratio?

 

It could be, the best way to figure it out is to pull the 3rd out and count the teeth. The easiest way is to do the spin test. Count the rotations and do the math.

 

Lift the truck, spin the tire 1 full rotation, count the driveshaft rotations
Or drive it slwoly forward 1 full rotation and have a friend help you count the driveshaft rotations

I wouldn't mind doing that but 3.58 and 3.73 are so close that not having both present to compare the two is a crapshoot. I this case, I best take the housing off and count, but up here in MI, rust is an issue on a 17 year old vehicle. I don't want to break nuts and bolts just to confirm nor do I wish to put the time and expense into it if not necessary. And when considering a donor vehicle, that means the other person must do the same. Bummer no official documents are available here to reference.

Didn't call the dealer yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to post an update with my findings.

 

Why bother editing out the alphanumeric VIN in the photo but leave the barcode? If vtroot wants to play, 4TAU .... 9355 should look familiar.
