This is what I miss about Colorado. People helping people out. Asked about welding in the Montana BS thread and a guy responded with I will do it for $150 for the sliders. @Squeaky Penguin hop in your truck and head up here!

I didn't have an issue with mine when I got emissions done a few months ago.

There are definitely options for both Fox and Icon with that lift. May just need to contact vendors to make sure you're getting the right thing.

Since this is the BS thread...have any of you been to the ER lately with Influenza?

I had to head up to Aurora to the VA as I couldn't breathe well and had a huge fever Tues/Wed night.

I have never had the "Flu" but this thing is still kicking my butt. This stinks and finally able to post.

I'm on antivirals now and other meds.

    Finally able to sit up!

Cool, thx. And to be sure I understand the exhaust chop... by chopping off the exhaust, you avoid the need to "re-hang" the exhaust pipe or re-locate the exhaust hanger?
I found Fox & Icon rear shocks for 1st Gen Tacomas on the LowRangeOffroad and WheelersOffroad websites last night. I noted the "extended" length, and compared it to the "extended" length for the OME 60062 shock (listed as 587mm or 23.2" @ LowRangeOffroad website). Both the Fox and Icon 2.0 rear shocks were shorter. So I'm thinking... WTF... why are these "better" than the OME if their shorter than the OME, and the OME is dinged as being too short?

LowrangeOR (http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...charger-sport-shock-by-old-man-emu-60062.html) says the OME 60062 Nitrocharger is good for 0-2.25" lift. It says that fully extended it is 587mm or 23.2". According to my math, that means a shock that has a full extension of 23.95" oughta be good for a 3" lift. (Of course, that assumes a truly perpendicularly mounted shock.)

Also according to the LROF webpage (http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/bilstein-5125-shocks.html), the Bilstein BE5-A464-H5, a 9” 5125-series Off-Road shock, fully extends to 24.35".

The Icon webpage lists the VS 2.0 shock (p/n 56502 -- http://iconvehicledynamics.com/shop...-20-aluminum-series-rear-shock-0-15-lift.html) doesn't list any of these dimensions (WTF!?!), but https://www.carid.com/icon-vehicle-dynamics/vs-2-0-aluminum-series-shock-absorbers.html lists the extended length for the 56502 as 21.8" fully extended. To further muddy the waters, carid.com states the Icon VS 2.0 56502 for "vehicles lifted 0-3"," but the Icon page says it is for vehicles lifted 0-1.5". Whisky Tango Foxtrot, over? Interestingly enough... if one takes the Icon web page literally, and adds 1.5" to the 21.8" fully extended length, one gets 23.3"... which is very close to the 23.2" of the OME 60062 Nitrocharger.

Wheelers lists the as being good for a "0-3" lift" and that it
The Fox webpage, PERFORMANCE SERIES 2.0 SMOOTH BODY IFP SHOCK - 980-24-672, lists a different SKU, 980-24-672 !?!, and specifies that the extended length is 20.45" with a travel of (only!?!) 7.1".

    So... which is it?

(Am prolly going to start a Gen 1 rear shock thread if there is not already one.)

You're going down the rabbit hole of first gen rear shocks. There's quite a few threads out there if you look around (I'd post some but I'm on my phone and harder to navigate), you'll probably end up relocating the shocks if you wanna get the most out of the shocks

That's the exact point I'm at. I'm not even going to bother upgrading my OME's until I figure out a shock relocation and better leaf springs.

I think that's where a lot of us are. I'm waiting to get a rear bumper since my rear kinda works now, then it'll be box in frame, new custom springs and relocated Kings or ADS shocks. But that's a few years away

Yeah, I'm staring at the rabbit hole... 31 threads, and that wasn't all of them. I am aware that folks have done 1st gen rear shock relocations. I'm not there at this point. I just need to replace my suspension. When I drive over a crack in the road, the rear end goes THUNK, and you feel it. Money is, of course, tight. I am considering anywhere from all 5100's + an AAL in the back to a full OME, but now the Penguin has me thinking about Fox 2.0 or Icon VS 2.0 rear shocks. But they appear to be significantly shorter than either 5125 9" shocks, or OME 60062 Nitrochargers.

If I'm NOT going to relocate shocks at this point, is it best to either stick with the 5100s (5125) or Nitrochargers in the rear?

Not to derail things, but I've not yet posted in here... Prolly should, since I've been lurking for about a month.

I got a '10 DCSB TRD Sport that'll be getting bumpers now that the RCI sliders are on (if anyone has use for a set of Predator tube steps, lemme know)

Just thought I'd pop-in and let'cha know that you're being watched.

Do you just have sliders? Or do you have skids too?

I was surprised at how easy it was. Unfortunately I had to sell my welder when I moved. @jubei how’s that welder treating ya?

No "real" skids yet, but i'll figure those out as I move along as well. I'm working this as a "wait and see" build, but I'm certain that I'll end up adding some actual skids (at least fuel) as this gets going.

Personally, I'd do skids before bumpers. Don't think anyone in this thread, that I know of, has a gas tank skid. I'd at least get IFS,Mid, and Trans skid before bumpers.

Cheaper than bumpers and it's a lot easier to replace a scratched bumper than a transfer case.

    Just my personal opinion though.
