    Says ontop of the battery:
    Float charge: 13.5-13.8v
    Cycle Service: 14.4-14.8v

Battery bloating is caused by overcharging. The vehicles alternator voltage regulator should prevent overcharging unless it is defective. If extremely deeply discharged, AGM batteries require slow charging to be brought back to life. In a vehicle's primary battery this is relatively unlikely. If they battery can start the vehicle it is not extremely discharged, even if it needs a small jump it should be fine. But if you use the battery as a standalone power device and drain very low, then hook it up to a charger and attempt to charge it at a usual quick charge rate you will damage the battery. The AGM batteries are also more sensitive to overcharging, moreso than a lead acid battery. Lead acid batteries will start to vent when being over charged, which is not possible in a sealed AGM battery. So depending on the quality of your standalone charger, you can easily charge the battery too quickly and/or overcharge the battery. The batteries mentioned are designed specifically for automotive use. It is the standalone chargers that are attempting to charge the battery too quickly and not shutting off early enough that are likely the issue in your marina cases.

It is just a little longer and will overhang the tray a bit. No harm, someone suggested getting a longer 2nd gen plastic tray base which would work. The AGM batteries are sealed, so the plastic tray isn’t really a big deal. 2nd gen guys sometimes put in an even larger group 31 in place of the 27F.

I just a search on Northstars website (which needs a little work btw) and I don't see a 27F sized battery. Does anyone have a part number?

Thank you. The NorthStar website is garbage. I did a search by my vehicle info and it only gave me the 24F. I tried doing a search with just "*27F" and still nothing. Since I didn't know NS part numbering scheme, I stopped at that point. I even did a search for "*AGM27F" (nownthat I now the part number, thanks again) and still nothing. You have to know the entire part to search even though they indicate wildcard searches are possible. which kind of defeated the reason for my search.

Looks like the NS one isn't really available anywhere. But the X2 is relatively close. I am planning on adding a winch soon and my current battery is approaching EOL. So perfect timing.

Hey @crashnburn80 since you seem pretty knowledgeable, is swapping out the stock battery for the x2 power pretty much detach, pullout, replace, and reattach? How should I do it? Black cable off first then red or vice versa?

Pro tip. Never rely on a sites search engine. Instead in google do the following:

    Searchterm site:website.com

Where searchterm is what you are looking for and website is the site you are trying to search. Far more powerful to use google to crawl the site rather than use the sites integrated search engine.

Same battery, just the X2 is sold under the Batteries Plus brand. The X2 says NorthStar right on the side. I run the X2 version as my battery was on deaths door and I needed it ASAP.

Engineers love facts. Facts make everything way easier, no need to debate on opinion. Who doesn’t love a good comparison spreadsheet.

Yep. There is one minor catch where the integrated handle in the NorthStar is just a bit wider at the top of the battery than stock. I did my change quickly in a parking lot in below freezing weather wearing a T-shirt and went through the handle instead of over it. I’ve seen people mess with it and be able to get it over the handle though.

Black cable should be detached first and attached last.

Its not a worry, they were just cost cutting and now using 1 battery across the board instead of 2, however it wont hurt anything if you wish to upgrade to the 27F.

@crashnburn80 I normally do that. I tried to see what options were on Amazon and didn't get a hit. Then when I didn't get a hit on the NS site, I figured it was time to go back to TW for the answer.

This post is exactly what I needed today. I'm currently deployed and the guy watching my truck back home just told me the stock battery died so based on TW's recommendations I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the X2 27F.

My only concern is that since I'm not there and someone else will be putting it in for me, will the larger size fit on the stock 3rd gen tray? I already feel bad the guy has to deal with changing it so I just wanna make sure I dont get a battery that won't fit so he has to deal with that too. It seemed like other people said it will fit, just hang over the edge a little, but I just wanted to double check.
