    Question for y'all....
Looking to add a 27.5+ hardtail to my stable...

I keep coming across this boost141 rear axle/hub. and I have done some digging....

Anyway... any real reason to avoid it? I have a bike with boost110/148 combo, and one with skewers..
Only thing I notice is the wheel stiffness between the 2. The 27.5 with the wider hub, SHOULD help with that.
Played on a Roscoe yesterday, and it WAS fun.

    I am not racing.
Just beating myself and my bikes up(one of my teens stole my first 29er).. and I have been told to add a 27.5+ for... variety?

The more I read, the more it seems not to matter for someone like me.....

I am looking at the same type of bike. Did some research, and Boost141 sounds like some obscure Trek specific hub standard. Id stay in the B148 or SB157 category as they are well know and supported sizes.

Well, Trek, Marin, and at least one other..... seems to be for the 27.5+ mainly, though, Trek is apparently using it on 1 29er as well.

My oldest Trek is from the late 90s, a 1220.. my closest LBSs here, and back in Corpus are both Trek dealers... and, I can get a good deal, and trying to work a brake upgrade into it minimum.....
    Only hesitation is that boost141....

What else is out there in this category, without spending big money? This wont replace my FS, just, give me something to play with

Love my 150... the 100 has my eye now too.. so curious about a "down country" ride

Will hopefully rent/demo one when the weather gets better. The 150 plows and climbs great but I am definitely now curious about a lighter and more agile bike. The 130 is awesome as well but I wanted the extra travel for some DH/park days and Enduro races I have coming up and the 100 would make some sense (? LOL) if I got another bike for the stable haha.

    Thanks...
Ive been itching for GG for a while...the first thing that got my attention, was the music references... and as a metalhead... yep...but, by the time I got it spec'd, Im an easy grand over what I was planning to spend...
Carbon is out. My wife, and at least one of my teens will snag this occasionally...
    I like the Salsa timberjack.

Problem is demoing one in my area...

Thanks, itll give me something more to look at.

@Chasespeed i happened to do some research on Boost 141 since a friend was looking at a low end Marin that had it. Seems like the frames are true Boost (12x148?) but the hub is 12x141 with an adaptor to fit the dropouts. So no benefit of wider/stiffer true Boost hub, but the frame is ready if you ever upgrade to a Boost wheelset. Which my 2015 pre-Boost frame (and fork) are not ...

Those new Salsa's look pretty sweet! For me it would be between the Spearfish and Horsethief...But then I've been riding Yeti's since 2005, with a Brodie and a couple of Intenses thrown in...I'm on a 2014 Yeti now that I bought new. May be in the market in another year or so...

Specialized Fuse and Santa Cruz Chameleon are two really solid options for 27.5+ hardtails. Both come in carbon frames now if you're trying to ball out, and the Spesh has integrated storage in the frame.
Neither of them use any proprietary bs either which is pretty sweet.

Yep, built this thing up a bit ago. I was so stoked to build a mid-fat aggressive steel hard tail. Looked great, was fun, but nope. Growing up skateboarding, then snowboarding, and mountain biking, and being 43 means my knees are shit. After a few rides, let her go. Even on smoother trails I was hurting for days after a ride.
Ended up with a Devinci Marshall (110 travel) with all coil shock and a bigger fork (140). Love that thing, honestly can’t say enough good things about it.

I don’t know if this has been done or not, but This is what I came up with as my bike carrying solution. I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD off-road with a short bed. I didn’t want to put my bikes sideways using the rails, I didn’t want to drill into the bed itself, and I wanted the option to maybe have a hard shell Tonneau. I think I should be able to still have a bed cover and I’ll just set the rear wheel on top and maybe drill into the cover and put and eye bolt with a strap for the rear wheel. if I’m not able to even put a cover because of interference with the new header then, well, I tried. I’m not too familiar with tonneau covers since this is my first truck, but I assume I ill have to get creative again.

The L bracket was just some long galvanized bracket ($14) that I picked up from homedepot and spray painted it with bed liner. I only had to drill two holes into the header on the ends. the middle bolts were screwed into factory threaded holes that worked with an M6 bolt. I was comfortable drilling into the header since it’s a replaceable part and I wasn’t drilling into the bed itself. The top of the L bracket has about 1/2 inch of space to bolt stuff down to.

Overall, it turned out way better than I thought. It’s very sturdy and wasnt expecting it to look aggressive. Since I’m able to move the fork mounts around freely, i may be able to use the mounting system for other applications also.

Also, this is my first post. Let me know what y’all think and let me know if I’m doing anything wrong, posting wise.

Headed out to Windrock tomorrow for the first Pro GRT of the year. Amaury, Neko, Dak Norton, Troy Brosnan, Luca Shaw a few of the names that are racing. Shenanigans to include heavy binge drinking, falling down the mountain, and mooning racers as they pass by

Y'all would love Windrock; 100s miles 4x4 trails, world class DH and Enduro Trails, and a gun range.
