Yes, you have options. Options, such as this:

    IMG_1404.jpg

To obtain such option, there is one step required; one must spend $$$.

Seriously, Entune is not very appealing in my opinion. Much happier now.

That Halo system is nice. Does the backside look janky because it hovers out?

The unit can be adjusted to be raised or lowered, tilted up or down, though adjusting the height or tilt require removing a side cover and unscrewing several screws every time. Not exactly an adjustment you can make on the fly, unfortunately.

That side cover on the left and right help maintain that "entertainment dash screen" look and with the correct double din kit it looks pretty good.

I can take few pics in the next day and get some better perspectives if anyone cares.

I just upgraded to the AVIC 8400. Wireless CarPlay and pretty much every other feature available. Only had it in for a day now but I already like it more than stock.

I swapped mine out for a Kenwood 6950. It's a mid range unit but still better than stock with the one exception of not having nav. It does allow Waze and car play though. Camera is noticeable better as well. Biggest change is in sound quality, I was already amplified so the head unit amp made no difference in loudness, but there is some noticeable roll offs on the stock unit and a non defeatable EQ. After changing it out my low freq. bass is much more pronounced and doesnt roll off at high volume.

Cant wait for the 2020s to hit the market so all the people waiting to see if the new unit will be affordable can stop waiting. The 5th gen 4runner factory HU has been around 2k for years now and the factory HU in our trucks is no different. You could go aftermarket with a top of the line unit for half the price. Even with the extra features the 2020 HU will have the same old 10ish watt amp and crappy sound. But hey, its your money.

Are there options out there to make them better? Well duh man, just Google backup camera and select one YOU like, then head on back to Google and search for radio head unit and select the one YOU like. What kind of question is this?

I'd permanently trade the nav out of my truck for a single Venti Frappuccino, at the drop of a hat.

It's just a single data point, but my 2016 had much better backup camera quality than my 2019 does. Not sure if the part number rolled somewhere during the 3rd gen production, but it you can get your hands on an earlier unit from a junkyard it might be an improvement.
