X2. I like the look of the growler. I’ll have to stop there too.

And I just got the “in production email”!

Anybody with a second gen have any issues with the bed rail caps and sealing? I was looking at the Voodoo bed rail caps, but with the recent issues I have read I am nervous to purchase them. As of now just planning on leaving the stock rail caps.

I plan to install mine on my 2nd Gen this weekend before I pick up the GFC next week.

Other than being sure to seal the bedsides underneath before you put the caps on with aluminum foil tape or similar, I haven’t heard of any issues.

    What issues have you heard?

I have read the voodoo rail caps are having issues with rusting and not being powder coated properly.

I don't have the KB rail caps but did own a set of his cross bars. They were rusting badly after a few weeks in SoCal weather. I emailed him to see if there was anything he could do for me and never got a response. I decided it wasn't worth my time and ended up selling them for a deep discount a few weeks ago. I think I read that the issues with powder coating are resolved now but for obvious reasons I decided to stick with the stock caps after sealing them.

The issues are definitely not resolved, he just keeps saying the defects are a normal part of powder coating and it’s not his fault.

I have the caps and they are rusting as well. But the newer caps are made of aluminum so even if the coat flakes you'll be okay as far as rust goes. KBVoodoo may not be the best to deal with but for now they are the only ones making caps and they are leaps and bounds better than the factory crap. Use foil tape and silicone to seal them up and you're good to go. The factory caps clip into the bed holes so they may be more difficult to seal up.

What does "Sealant Curing" entail? Where is the sealant applied and what kind of sealant is used? Is this a new, improved production technique? Thanks.

I believe its part of the new seal system. Not sure what sealant is used but it goes between the hinge and tube frame.

Mine are aluminum so should be fine there. Powder coat looks pretty solid on mine as well.

It's a mixture of a bulb seal and a rubber RTV type gasket. It's aerobic, so it has cure time. I can vouch that it is working great. I have been immersing it in the salt life of the midwest for the last month and don't have any leaks between that portion. The new gaskets on the panels work well, but has very minimal leaking if it does. I've seen more leaks come from the fenders up through the bedcaps than the actual camper itself.

Unfortunately, my camper was delivered just before this improvement was instituted
Could the camper be used, assuming no rain, while the gasket is curing?

Most likely (I could be completely wrong), is that the GFC is hanging out for a week in cabana mode while the seals cure.

I'm thinking that I could drive to Belgrade to have the gasket and sealant installed but I'd rather not cough up the money for a week in a hotel.

Without having the GFC would be wasted time for sure.
