Aftermarket Windshield Washer Reservoir finally available

From that picture it looks like it would interfere with hood gas springs if you'd like to add.

 

Possibly, it does look pretty close. The reservoir is in a factory location though, just like the 1995-2000 Tacos.

So I'd imagine if you can put the gas shocks on a ~99, you could do it on mine, too.

This is what I got. The pump plugged right in to my factory harness, and then I drilled the hole in the bottom and used my old sensor.

Sorry, I was talking about hood struts (like Redline Tuning).

 

I know, that's what I'm talking about as well.

It does look close, but there is a bit of clearance between the reservoir and the hood, that the hood strut might still fit. If not, you could probably play around with some spacers to move the reservoir out of the way.

Like I said, as long as you can install the hoot struts on the earlier gen Tacomas, should work here, too.

 

I haven't seen a first gen Tacoma down here in Texas with an intact one. Even low mileage grandmother garaged trucks. My truck's previous owner said it just cracked during some cold/hot shifts in the weather. One day he saw a bunch of liquid on the ground as he was leaving for work so he popped his hood and it had cracked. I'm debating on plastic welding/soldering it back together but I've had mixed results doing stuff like that before.

the heat it Texas kills them. Mine cracked all to hell at 160k miles. I bought one at a junkyard and made the mistake of letting it sit over the summer, since it was king of a pain to get in there. When I finally did, that one broke apart before I'd even started the work. After going for a year without, I finally found a new replacement and got my washer flood back!

 

Just got my aftermarket one from my previous posts.
Not sure of the material but it says HDPE and has a 2 in the recycling symbol. Feels like a thicker milk carton.





The stock strainer does fit. Cap is able to close over it.



Using RTV grey on all the grommets. Washer fluid pump seems tight enough to be water tight, however the low fluid sensor was too loose - so both mating surfaces get RTV there. Tried to use the stock grommet, but it was too tight and the sensor wanted to pop out, that wasn't going to work. Letting that cure before I put the filler neck in. Both surfaces will get RTV there too. Not taking any chances.




Done. Going to fill up and check for leaks tomorrow, then reinstall the black shield thing.

 

How is it holding up? No leaks so far?

Mine is broken and I’m looking for one. Junkyard or aftermarket new?

 

Thanks for putting this up, I am in need of a new one myself for my 01. The neck was showing sign of cracks but held fluid, had to fill it Saturday and when I went to close the lid it crumbled.

 

Lol mine is cracked on the top but still im able to put windshield washer fluid, just did it yesterda, youre right they crack easily (off roading, fixing air cleaner)

 

Must be the heat then, I’ve never had an issue with cracks,
I upgraded my tank to one that has the low level sensor and found an OEM at the local salvage yard
with all the wires and pump and low level sensor for 35.00.

my res neck is tip-top kosher as far as i can see, which is quite odd considering i have not ever (to my recollection) EVER added any washer fluid to it, if i did i was running low between routine service many decades ago which i do not remember

 

i can see it possibly breaking while wiping dirt/dust off the air cleaner housing exterior, especially if you have big hands because its a tight fit in between it and the neck
must be careful

 

I never saw this when you posted it, but it's still looking great and doesn't leak.

so far! but its certainly bound to happen as old as it is and if the heat plays a part making it brittle

 

I think it was something wrong with original material the tank was made of. The original tank lasted 12 years or so, the replacement is still good after the same time. Actually not tank itself, but the neck disintegrated.
By the way, me second tank is also OEM so it looks like Toyota improved something.

 

As far as I know mine is original changed the pump once

 

It's the humidity in his state it keeps the plastic flexible I think
