Check all the fuses under the dash. Pretty sure one of the little 5 amp guys powers up the data link connector

Maybe ask the friend you got it from about if or what was added or deleted?
What happened what was he/she doing when it died.
Was it running when you got it?
Your reader doesn’t connect, the tach doesn’t do anything, is that all the electrical gremlins.
No mechanic here either just gotta think maybe it’s electrical.
Did it go for a swim or something like that?

New info. The car was running before the previous owner replaced the water bypass pipe... then it was not running after that.

Even cause the Tach not to work?
I will agree, he should use the correct plugs.
But I’m not seeing how incorrect plugs would cause a data link or tach issue?

im not quite getting this whole nightmare, the data link in the truck must be broken cause he has tried 2 OBD scanners neither linked up?? if he can get a code up the mystery is over, my money is on the BOSCH plugs being the issue

Pulled all the fuses under the dash. The OBD2 scanner is powering on. It will not link with the car. Says Linking Error

All the fuses out under the hood okay? Anybody jump the car backwards at the battery? Check all the connections that may have been unplugged recently, look for damaged pins.

It could still be the maf sensor. Really need to get the data link connector working not just for codes but to look at data also. Otherwise you're just throwing parts at it

I'm thinking either water damage or he tried to tune the ecm and locked it up.

Well the goal tomorrow is to take the intake manifold off to see if the previous repair (water bypass pipe replacement) was done and there is just a missing connection.
