Did you find a recipe that worked?

I just did pork loin chops in the IP last night. Needless to say they come out inedible, and I pretty much can count the number of times in my life I've ever made inedible food.

Not a fan of the IP for anything outside of soups/stews. It just cooks stuff to death and the pressure must squeeze every ounce of moisture out of meat.

Normally I do loins 425F for about an hour or so (until done, I never really time it). Bring it out when Medium, let it sit a few minutes then cut into it. Always comes out nice and juicy. That's what I get for not sticking to what works.

A meal ready in 30 minutes. I prefer the crock pot, though.

It is a crock pot, but also a pressure cooker, steamer and a few more things rolled into one. You just have to know what buttons to push.

Funny thing is I made some steamed corn tonight in a steamer and my wife asked me why I didn't use the IP. I said the steamer has only one setting.

    Personally?
Not much. I'm moderately unimpressed with my instapot thus far. The only thing it's actually been able to cook faster without sacrificing quality has been soups/chili. Rice dishes take longer and don't come out any better than just cooking them on the stovetop, and meat is a crap shoot of bad. Pork chops and ham steaks take longer than cooking them in the stove and they come out dry/rubbery. A whole chicken or a large lump of pork or beef cooks faster, but also suffers from being overdone and rubbery. Fish suffers from the same problem, except that it turns out dry and falling apart.

But, it does a great job of fast-cooking soups, stews, chili, etc. So it's handy for that.

If you're in a rush it'll turn out something edible in short order, just don't expect it to be that great. So at this point I'm mostly using mine as a third slow cooker, lol. :notsure:

Made this yesterday. Slow-cooker yardbird (browned it up in a cast iron pan in the oven after it'd cooked for about 8 hours), with seasoned local potato wedges and some leftover ginger & curry squash soup made with the last Butternut from last year's garden. Made the soup Friday night with the Instapot and figured it'd make a good side for the chicken

My recommendation is to put the rub on the night before. Between that and the long cook time, it lets the flavor really penetrate. But don't skip browning it up in the oven; soggy chicken skin is gross.

what all did you put on the chicken?I make a rub with rosemary thyme, salt pepper garlic and some dried ground lemon and orange rind(fresh would be better). about 1TBS each and mix it together and put that on chicken.
