Its a great thread. Although I am sticking with the Mobile 1 extended life filter. Ive been running Mobile one synethitc for 20 years and it hasn't let me down.

Who all is running a Motorcraft oil filter on the 4.0 (1GR-FE) engine? I've used OEM filter since the day it left the factory, but want to use a larger MotorCraft filter now. For those Ford haters, keep on hatin. MotorCraft filters are just as good as Toyota filter.

Anybody roll with the Napa Platinum? It's allegedly a decent synthetic filter made by Wix

I was doing an oil chage this morning and noticed this. The filter has a different part number than the box. The filter fit fine but what's up with the numbers not matching.

But it's longer, so it must be superior. :)

Its and OEM filter that has warranty, unlike these auto part store filters.

Yes. Use only genuine Toyota motor oil made by Mobil

Yeah, I was kidding with the genuine Toyota stuff. I read on a few sites that Mobil makes their oil. It's just in a Toyota jug. The Mob EP is good stuff, just a tad spendy. I'm a 5000 mile change guy, so I go with the Mobil 1. They make about 20 different synthetics now, it's mind boggling.

Use to go with Mobil1 filter, but since reading this post seems like the OEM will do the job. It has so far. Toyota probably knows what they are doing, right? :D

Which filter is that? Is it the 90915-YZZD3? Has anyone cut open a 90915-YZZD1? I would assume that they both would have the same media, but there I go assuming again.

Yup, that’s what I worry about going non-OEM, bypass valve differences.

Are you talking about the vehicle warrantee, or does the filter have a warrantee?

I wonder how you would prove that your filter failed?

All Toyota genuine parts have warranty. If it came apart could cause a claim.

good read....but I believe the OEM filter have gone through extensive testing by Toyota engineering and for the price, its one of the best oil filters for our trucks.......i have have 2 Lexus cars (ES350 and GS350) and use the OEM filters and Mobile1 oil.....There is a reason I have over 1,000,000 miles on my Toyota vehicles.....My truck is no exception.....I have listened to the stealership and adhered to the 10k interval....but my 30k change showed a very dark oil.....I do not believe they changed it out last visit.....for that reason alone, I will not be going back to any dealer except for warranty work......I just completed my 30k myself (yea, i learned a lot for this site and our members) rotated my tires and reset TPMS and it worked.....only thin i did not do was check the fan bolts....still learning.....my point is, the OEM oil filter is only ~$4.33 and with my veterans discount, I got it for ~ $3.75....oil is cheap at Costco.....6 qts, 0w20 Mobile for ~$27-28.....so, enjoy your truck as I have....have a great day.....
