Hi there, just introducing myself. I've already dropped a couple posts around actually, but now I'm 100% sure that I've got a Tacoma coming in I wanted to say hi here.

I'm driving a 4 door car right now, but I just got married and my wife has almost the same vehicle, so it's a little redundant. I really want a truck for utility, can't tell you the number of times I've needed one.

I'll be buying a 2011 4x4 regular cab, red, as soon as one finds its way to a lot near me :).

Thanks for all the hellos :)
The reason I'm thinking 2011 vs a 2010 is because of the interior honestly. It seems like a silly thing but the 2011 models have a regular cab 4x4 automatic that is supposed to have bucket seats and a center console, plus the same gas mileage as the manual. It's also supposed to have child seat restraints which I don't think the manual does and, well, I figure it can't hurt to have them.

I still sort of want a manual, honestly, but I've also heard some people say they don't like it in the Tacomas as much.

If you plan on having kids get at least and Access cab and even better is the Double Cab. I'd never put a child seat in seat of a regular cab.

Sup man, welcome to TW! Lots of useful information and good people around here after you filter out some things.

I was pretty much in the same situation as you and I've future proofed mine with a double cab. Don't forget to post pics once you've got it!

Ya know I'm still kicking the idea of an access cab around, but I actually read an article a short time ago that said that the small size of the back seat in an access cab means that you'd be better off putting a child seat in the front anyways. I haven't done a ton of research on it cause I'm not really there yet :)

Access cab is a great idea, but an extra 4k or so is quite a lot to think about.

Edit: Actually the biggest issue I had with it, now that I remember, is that I could only configure a v6 4x4 and it was quite a bit more expensive and worse on gas. for 2011 it looks like I can set up a cylinder automatic access cab for only 3k more. Still 3k is a lot, but it might be worth kicking around the idea.

Replying to my own reply, but here goes, I think I've finally figured out exactly what truck I'm going to go for. I'm thinking the 2010 regular cab 4x4 manual. I was holding out for the 2011 automatic regular cab but I'd rather have the bench seat so i can squeeze in a 3rd person in an emergency. It looks like the auto regular cab is 2 person only with a non-movable console (correct me if I'm wrong).

The only problem now is finding it in red. Closest dealer is 70 miles away. Might just have to make the drive...

I put in an offer on the Red 4x4 Tacoma that is 70 miles away. Doing negotiations by phone and e-mail because I really need a commitment before driving 3 hours round trip. If they agree to my offer I should have my new ride by Monday :)
