Pick up a 2-4 to wash down your back bacon. Start saying "eh" as punctuation. Be extra kind to your fellow citizens. Brag about free healthcare, clean roads, and snowmobile upgrades. Learn to speak passable French with a weird accent. Learn to play hockey or at least become obsessed with it.

You'll eventually turn into a citizen of a nation where such weird configurations exist (and every one with seat heaters!)

There are no Double Cab Long Bed MTs in Canada. Neither OR nor Sport. We have an Access Cab long bed MT OR that the yanks don’t get.

I would say a dedicated truck engine for starters. Something they can apply in the Tacoma and 4Runners just like the 1GRFE. I think if they put out a similar engine with slightly better efficiency, fleet owners would be all over it.

The SR utility package comes with the rear seats deleted, might have to ask a fleet manager to show you or order one for you.

The 4 cyl option is for pest control, pool cleaners, gardeners, light duty landscapers. Just because it isn't for you doesn't mean toyota should get rid of it. In real use it doesn't even save gas but the accountants and people who do fleet sales don't care they'd rather save $1500 and put a 4 cyl instead of the 6 cyl.

An engine developed for trucks and SUV use rather than dragging over an engine from the typical passenger vehicle lineup (Camry, highlander, etc). Something paired with a transmission that keeps the torque low. I guess overall a more refined approach to an updated drivetrain in the next generation. Toyota isn’t exactly known for that though. If I can crank out 2-300k miles with this setup relatively troublefree, then I’ll rest my case.

Yep. And I’ve already had my RMS replaced at 20k miles...
I’ve even seen a fleet ‘16 with over 220k before it was totaled. I guess all I’m saying is it’d be nice to see Toyota make there trucks and SUVs a little more refined. Obviously that isn’t their priority, but it’s just my wishful thinking. I don’t need crazy numbers or to go 0-60 faster than the bro truck next to me. If that were the case I wouldn’t have bought a manual and loaded it down with 600+ lbs of gear and armor lol

They discontinued RC model because of insufficient sales.

Well, they do have the DC model that you mention, if you want a bigger back seat, try a Tundra? DC is already hella long.

Fortunately, its not about what you want. Personally, I would never buy a 6 cyl. No interest in the added fuel consumption with absolutely zero benefit. If you want a sports car, buy a Ferrari.
Oh, and increasing the engine size doesn't change towing capacity in any meaningful way. Its more important to be able to CONTROL the load than to win at a tractor pull. The ~10,000 pound loads I've moved effortlessly with my 4-cyl are testament to this.

Lol and then says “in the spirit of simplifying” and opts for the most complicated of the two engines.

The 4cyl option is for purists.

To want more power when towing or working shouldn’t be frowned upon. If I’m towing through the mountains at high elevations, would I not benefit from more torque and power? Doesn’t have all that much to do with going fast or being a wannabe sports car. And towing or moving 10k lbs? Moving 10k lbs across the workyard at 3 mph and towing 10k lbs at 60 mph are very different things.

What do you dislike about TSS? I'm not in love with the lane departure warning, but the adaptive cruise control is pretty awesome.
