Hey, I'm ex-USAF; we're lucky if we hit center mass. Can't be expected to get headshots everytime!

Nuthin' wrong with the GAU-8A. I'm partial to the GAU-22/A myself. Once they work the last few (misalignment) bugs out, I think she'll be a keeper.

To be quite honest, we keep our GAUs on wings, and it is brilliance! And I know our ground-poundin' brothers loved when we'd show up with ACs or A-10s to give y'all a bit of breathing room or a good path forward ;)

285, whole thing was literally a sheet of ice. Maybe why it's completely closed down now. Wind was pushing me straight sideways and visibility down to not past my hood at times.

And some say i have no love for Tacomas...

Spotted this driving down 9... Owner out shoveling. She was only in there 30 minutes.. No sign of the tracks other than through the two foot barrier at the entrance from the plow.

    0309190935.jpg

Oh but i shouldn't go in there, i have duratracs That are two winters old... Fuck yo couch!

    0309190942.jpg

Bashed in, drug it out to the shallow spot on first attempt. Tracks on the right are where i ended up sliding to the deep stuff while pulling. Took strap off and pulled out.

    :D
I like reasons to go snow bashing!

Sure did... Dash cam proof later. I was actually surprised i didn't get stuck backing out over the mound of snow back onto hwy 9 since i had to stop on it a few times backing onto the highway. Which was ice.

Are they your winter tire? If so, are they studded? Or are they your all-year-round tire?

Once upon a time, I had a 1988 Toy Xcab 4WD with the 4banger and a five speed. Loved that truck. Had a paper route. Figured that on some Sundays, back when the Denver Post was a big paper, I had upwards of 2000lb of Sunday papers in the back. One year in the mid '90s, a big ol' blizzard rolled through Denver on a weekend. 30-33" of white fluffy stuff. I think the Lockrite locker (which broke and was replaced by a Truetrac) came later. Well, I chained the ol' girl up on all four wheels, went and got my papers and with 2000lb in the back, damned well went where I pleased... chugging through the still neighboorhoods in 4LO to the ching-ching-ching sound of my chains. Looking back, I could see I was plowing the road. One customer even called in a compliment... and said that they could not get out of their road, until after I had delivered the paper... then they were able to get out via my tracks & plowing.

So... in the above Jeep Rescue Escapade... if one of you geniuses had chained up... would you have been able to pull the silly jeep out with out any difficulty? Or do I have chains on the brain?

I think we talked about it but for some reason didn't chain up. Only some of us had chains. To answer the question of the possibility of pulling out with chains ... I think unlikely. That Jeep was sideways enough and dug down enough and not very helpful with the throttle enough to have pulled him out without the winch (I think).

The videos don't show it but the jeep was pointing backward downhill at about a 60 degree angle. The videos start after we had already moved it some.

This is how my rear suspension is currently sitting with about 450-500lb of gear in the back. Is it safe to say the rear springs are shot, or at least needing to be replaced?

If I understand other posts about 1st gen rear suspension... Once the rear springs are frowning (concave down), you don't need an AAL, you need new springs. Am I correct on this point?

    Right rear springs:

Left rear springs (from the back):

Left rear springs (from front of tire):

Left rear springs (from front of tire looking back towards u-bolts):
