Those look sic! What load range are those and also hows the ride?

 

They’re SLs, Only 40lbs which for their deep tread and aggressive sidewall was a big sell for me. I’ve done very little driving on them so far but the ride was better than stock.

 

That's super light! My s/t maxx in the same size are 55lbs. E rated. So Heavy

 

Spinner rims need to make a come-back. Slap some 22" Spinner rims on them Tacos!!!

Do you know what the specs are on the 5th gen 4runner wheels you're running? width and backspace mostly. Are you using any wheel spacers with them?

 

I believe they are 17x7 with 30mm offset winch gives them about 5.2" back spacing. I dont have wheel spacers on currently and get very minor rubbing on frame rail and UCA. Not enough to be able to hear or feel it tho. Just enough to rub the paint off.
I have a set of 1.25" spacers i am planning on installing but havent gotten around to it.

Have you logged any highway miles on these yet? I'm stuck between these and wildpeaks.

 

Haven't taken any long trips outside of my daily 30+ minute highway commute yet. So far I'm really impressed, even with the heavier LT's I don't notice any significant power loss. They seem quieter on the highway than just driving around town to me too. Personally I think these look better than wildpeaks and don't have the balancing issues a lot of people report with the falkens. I was about to pull the trigger on wp's when they were on sale and these popped up on a local craigslist brand new at a steal so I grabbed them instead.

Edit: Also my mpg's off the highway are the same as they were with the stock kevlar's. I stay consistent right now around 16mpg with my morning commute off highway then on the highway home.

I know they are a different size but I have put a lot of highway miles on mine and they are great, super smooth and very quite. I gained 1mpg with these vs my duratracs in the same size and had balance issues with the duratracs. Ultraterrains have been on for 5k and rotated once, still perfectly smooth and quite.

 

Had both. WP's had balance issues and truck seemed to wander back and forth. Back to straight w/UT's and balance good, vibration gone WP's had. WP's were softer ride, do to composition, but had those other issues. Read the lighter WP's with silica compound are the ones with issues. Heavier LT's didnt have as much issue, but i didnt want a high ply.

UT's are harder compound rubber than WP's, in low ply any way. Happy with UT's so far.

 

That's great feedback. I'm debating on going with either the WP's or the UT. I like that both are light (esp lighter than my current S/T Maxx). I like the cheaper price tag of the WP's, but it sounds like the UT's get better overall reviews from reading the two threads about them.

 

Talkin to some guys at DT. Sounds like most wear issues and other on the WP's were with the lighter ply, that uses the silica compound. They did feel soft as hell, liked that part. But also lots of reports of those silica compounds wearing fast. I didnt want another high ply after my Duratracs.

UT's are stiffer and i feel the road more, which is fine really, you get used to it. Less stiff than my DT's were. But, they dont vibrate, i get no steering wheel shake, and they balanced out pretty good. Compound feels to the touch, like my DT's where, tread pattern tighter. I liked that. My DT's lasted hella long, just started cupping. Mostly do to my suspension setup at the time, extra weight up front, and high ply. Still liked them even cupped though.

One thing i will say though, the UT's are some gravel grabbers. My driveway is gravel and they grab that shit and sling it out all the way to work, lol. None hitting side, just up underneath.

 

Thanks for that. Were you running the C or E rated Duratrac's? I currently have S/T maxx's on my truck in 265/75/16. They took a decent amount of weights but balanced well, no shake but definitely have the right pull that many report. They are smooth on the HWY but, the main thing is they are E rated so they are very stiff and most any bump, crack or whatever in the road is felt very pronounced...almost jarringly. They are also heavy at 55lbs. I've been looking at WP's for a while but then I came across this thread and thought about going with these. I like that they are only 40lbs in the SL and have really great review so far. I may stop by Discount Tire today after work and see what kind of price they can give me. Thanks again for your feedback.
