That's just how the 1st gen OEM leaf springs are. Are you bouncing off the bump stops yet? That's when I gave up and replaced the stock suspension on my truck.

How would I know if I'm "bouncing off the bump stops yet?" It does seem that whenever I hit the smallest "crack" or other road imperfection... I feel it in the back end.

From that last pic... it appears there is maybe only about 1" between the bumpstops?

I am looking into OME 882 in the front, with full OME Dakar + DXL43 add-a-leaf in the back, but am debating Bilsteins all-around vs Nitrochargers all around. Yeah, I know... pay once, cry once... but I have other bills to pay as well.

It also appears Nitrochargers in front and Fox 2.0's in the back could be an option (@Squeaky Penguin apparently not being a fan of Nitrochargers either), for only $100 more than full OME.

Another thought was that if I went 882s + Dakars with Bilstein 5100s all around..., the $$ saved could possibly pay for sliders. Hmmm...

Should this tool work on our Taco front coils?

    https://www.amazon.com/Goplus®-MacPherson-Interchangable-Compressor-Extractor/dp/B017H1AWMK

A fellow over on T4R.org loves this tool ( ).

The description says the jaws only open 12 1/2". Is that an issue? I guess I kinda thought it would fit over top and underneath the entire coil, but it is not long enough for that. So I assume the jaws slip in between some of the coils?

Was thinking when I get my suspension, would get this tool as well instead of paying Wheelers or whoever to assemble the struts. Then I'd have a tool I could loan to other TWers if/when they need to mess with struts. Good idea or bad?

I saw this much cheaper tool on Amazon as well: https://www.amazon.com/ARES-Macpherson-Compressor-Repairs-Compression/dp/B07CDF5TKW

And what about the first one? Seeing as how a 4Runner wrencher seemed to like it so much... and 4runner's pretty much have the same coils as Tacos, don't they?

Honestly, from what I can tell, you're not the type of "drive fast" and send it, your big issue is weight carrying. I would spend your money on the 882, dakar w/AAL and 5100s. Take the money you saved, pay ~$50 of it to someone to compress the coils and assemble that for you. It's not worth shooting off your head by using the cheap tools. Better yet, if you order from Wheeler's, they will assemble it all for you (you have to buy some new parts but you'll probably still end up saving money in the end).

Alright, who here near Denver has a 1st gen V6 with supercharger? I'd love to go for a ride with you to see what it's like so I can make a decision to set aside money for a possible end of year sale from URD on a new MP62 and 7th injector kit.

Jason, appreciate your comments about where to spend my money above...

Is there any concern from a reliability point of view about putting a supercharger on older, higher mileage motors? You're gonna be upping the internal pressure a LOT in parts of the motor, and increasing stress with the higher horsepower.

May I ask what is the purpose? Hauling a trailer? Just want to go fast?

If it is for offroad use, would the money be about a wash to, instead, go for torque and install a Marlin Crawler? Then you're keeping motor stresses the same, but applying mechanical leverage in your favor...

Dang it. I was hoping to not jump into a fully set up blown 1st gen..... but it would be nice to get a feel for the "max" end of the spectrum of possible... Although your truck is a bit lighter than my doublecab.
