3rd Gen HID vs LED vs Halogen H11 projector headlights

I've been using the philips bulbs for over two years. Definitely brighter and happy with them.

 

I ran the Philips +100's and they lasted 26 months. They were a noticeable improvement over stock in my 2nd gen reflectors. In my 3rd gen projectors, not so much of a noticeable difference.

Who doesn’t love some good charts! It is a very reasonable approach. Some of the challenge can be tracking down the life numbers, Philips is really good and prints it right on the box. Others it is like playing a game of Clue.

 

I originally purchased the Osram Nightbreaker Lasers for an improvement over stock - could be a good option for you.

They do have better output and a whiter color over stock, but won't hold a candle to the GE or h9. However, definitely adequate and are rated at a lifespan about twice as long as the GE's (or approx. 300 hours) - they're now my backup bulbs I keep in the truck.

 

Got my Hellas straight from Hella yesterday. Never had a ship email or a delay email from rally. I assume they got too swamped to email.

 

We'll the GE is the way to go for the fogs.

 

Planning on getting the KC gravity ambers for a straight swap of the fogs - should help with inclement weather and I am of the humble opinion that they're dope.

I'll probably look to make the change to 4x h9's for low's and hi's once the GE's are depleted. For now, they'll be great.

Hey @crashnburn80 do you know what bulbs come on the corollas? I know they won’t compare to the Hellas performance wise because they have a white/blue output, but im just curious why Toyota doesn’t put those across the board or why the corolla has different bulbs compared to the other cars in their line up.

 

You’ll likely have to specify a year range.

 

On newer Corollas, if they are whitish-blue, they are the OEM LED headlights. Toyota is putting in OEM LED headlights in the 2020 Tacoma.

Yeah I was referring to the 16’s, 17’s, 18’s I see daily. Those years have LED housings?

 

Looks like the OEM Corolla LEDs may have come out in 2015. I'm not very familiar with Corolla light changes over the years, so it is just googling for me. And as typical there is a tidal wave of complete garbage LED results of companies trying to sell you Chinese crap, that make finding real information a challenge.

 

Oh okay. I had no idea Toyota was using an oem led. Makes sense now

 

Just swapped out the OEM bulbs for the GE Mega Ultra +130s tonight.

OMG! There is a HUGE difference. Not even CLOSE to the stock bulbs! Now the lifespan will be the issue ( I drive about an hour daily in darkness ) but there is NO WAY I am going back to stock.

I carefully packaged up the stock bulbs and tossed them in the cab in the event that one fails in the future and I am not at home. I did pick up two other sets that are in my garage.

Argh... I can't make up my friggin mind choosing between the Morimoto Ellie HID kit in 5500/35w or the GE +130's. That color temp has me leaning towards the HID's but I don't really have the patience to deal with any quirky issues if they come with an HID system.
