Had the trottle stick

I had the throttle stick today. I was only going about 25 mph when a pickup ahead of me was stopped signaling to turn left. I put the brakes on and it seemed that I didn't have much brake. I pushed harder and harder and heard the motor race and tires screach before it stopped. Didn't hit the pcikup but what a feeling. This is first time I have had a problem with this 07 Tacoma V6 Auto. I thought most of this throttle thing was BS but it happened to me. It was not a mat problem. My wife now does not want to drive it. Called the dealer taking in tommorrow to have it checked .

 

so it just stuck in the same position that you left it at?

 

like how ever far u had the accelerator down to be goin 25?

Just curious, did you have your AC or defroster on? And I know you said it's not a mat problem but do you have factory mats with the hooks?

 

Hmmm, if the throttle was stuck did it become unstuck in order for you to stop. Once you got stopped did it correct itself and function like normal? Not saying we don't believe you but this is not the first post that smelled fishy.

 

I pushed on the brake but it didn't quite seem right - the motor was not racing at this point it was like I didn't have any brakes so I pushed harder to stop as I did this the motor speed did increase but not full throttle and the tires screched and it finally stopped but the motor was not racing when I finally got it stopped. It all happened so quickly. I didn't have my foot on the gas pedal and brake at the same time. I know some will think I am just full of BS but it did happen.

 

Did you shift the transmission into neutral (if you have an automatic) or push in the clutch (if you have a manual) ???

 

I've hit the gas and brake at the same time with some big'ol snow boots on and it did exactly like you said. Of course I didn't mean to do it and it scared the shit out of me. But it was my fault.

 

No I didn't shift into neutral it was like it all happen in a matter of seconds.

Welcome to the club. It happened to me once a year ago on my Tacoma 06' Auto.

 

Were you driving home from the clown convention and forgot to change shoes ?

 

The dealership did a computer analysis of systems and did the gas pedal recall. Hopefully it is fixed. So far no problems. I love how this 07 drives and handles compared to the 94 I had before. It handles the steep curvy roads that we drive very well. It is good additon to the other farm vehicles we have. So will think positive.
