I have the Bilstein with Dakar lift (not installed yet). Medium duty leafs.
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p312/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_w/_Dakars_(HS05BK-1-Dakar).html

I want to do a u-bolt flip at the same time and didn't know which one I should use. I also wanted a kit that uses Timbren bumps or Wheelers (leaning towards Timbren). I'll also have to replace my front bumps when I do the lift because one broke when I tried removing it during the ECGS bushing install. I want to use factory holes and do no drilling.

I found a Timbren flip kit with bumps. TIM ABSTRFK-A+1

Why not the kit from Wheeler's with their super bumps? Much more cost effective than timbrens.
Here are the ones with the timbrens Wheeler's version. (so aparently they are almost the same price as the timbrens now)o_O

I have these with the Super Bumps. Extremely well made and the measurements are precise.

I wasn't sure if the u-bolts for the flip were going to be big enough seeing that the new leaf pack is bigger than stock.

The ones I linked the wheeler's brand ones will fit I run them with my Deavers which is a larger leaf pack than the dakars (9+2) and I still have some threads showing.

I just reread the description for the Timbren ones I was looking at and they do fit the larger packs.

Now I'm leaning towards the super bumps.

I think he understands what they do he was just worried they wouldn't be big enough to reach the plate on a thicker leaf pack.

My mistake. I was referring to myself when I said rookie. Ugh! I know what a u-bolt is, just wondered what the purpose of a flip was.

So if you look under your truck the U-bolts go around the springs and the plate is on the underneath of the axle and the ends of the U-bolts hang down. You loose some ground clearance with this design as well could damage the ends of the u-bolts by hitting them when offroading. The U-bolt flip reverses this and the U-bolts wrap around the axle and the plate is on top of the springs. This gains the ground clearance and eliminates damage to the plates and ends of the u-bolts.

    Think I found the answer

Underside of the axle is smoother - fewer protrusions to get caught when dragging axle over rocks.

Thanks for explaining that to unique.
I know what they are for. Will I drive enough off road where they will get used? Probably not.
I figure while the truck is apart, it cant hurt.

As a side note. I see some say to re-torque after 100 miles. Does everyone continually check, let's say after off-roading?

Ummmmmm best practice to retorque yes absolutely! Check from time to time probably should. Do as I say not as I do. I didn't torque mine I just hossed mine on with an air impact oh and added a little blue loctite. After 20 yrs working as a tech you start to get a feel for things, is this the best practice hell no and I wouldn't recommend it to an amateur.

    Small update.
I have my lift installed. I used the Wheeler's u-bolt flip kit with SuperBumps. I also bought SuperBumps for the front but have yet to install them.
