Well, I've put several thousand rounds of various makes through mine without a hitch, so I'm not too worried I got a bad one. A good reminder to keep the muzzle pointed in a safe directional at all times though, especially when chambering or firing a round.

Yeah. Still, wouldnt hurt to order up the gauge they are offering to check yours or any owned by friends/family or future purchases.
I have to call tomorrow to find out if mine was checked when they had my rifle and to order a gauge. It relieved itself of the extractor/plunger/spring on the first trip to the range and they say it was caused by OOB discharge, so ????

Didn't have to call, you're able to order it right on the website by using your serial number.

Thank you for posting this notice! I haven't been on the S&W forum for a while and was unaware of this issue.

So if the gauge is sticking out should I just sand it down until it is flush?

If the gauge sits above the bolt face, the bolt gets sent back to S&W and they send you a new one.
