College Ordered Student to Alter Religious Views on Homosexuality, Or Be Dismissed

stuff like this makes my blood boil. everyone screams for "tolerance" but then conveniently fails to apply it to their own lives/views.

 

So, "the university does not discriminate on the basis of students' moral, religious, political or personal views or beliefs." Yet the student is being expelled for her moral, religious, and personal views. That is stupid!

 

What I find to be crazy is the fact that they want her to be tolerant of others while at the same time doing what they accuse her of doing.

I thought a good Christian was someone to follow in Jesus's example and love and forgive everyone, regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, etc.

So, they are saying that if she doesn't follow the guidelines of the program, she will be expelled from the program -- not the school.

But, yeah, hey, let's burn a bunch of schools and limit the intellectual creativity of the next generation of counselors, leaders and mentors!

Let's all also decide that if you don't adhere to a strict fundamental Christian philosophy of hatemongering and intolerance, then any institutions you design for the advancement of others through counseling is inherently flawed, despite years of research and practice!

It's funny, I went to Jesuit University and the professors and Fathers there were among the most tolerant I've ever met. It's a shame some schools feel like they have the right to force people into certain beliefs

 

Typical Liberal bullshit. I'd love to know where a public instituion has any right to intervene in a religious discussion or view. That is a direct violation of the constitutional seperation of church and state but the constitution doesn't seem to apply anymore unless it's used to support a liberal agenda.

She's a bad fit for the program -- plain and simple. Let's say I really wanted to be a welder -- but I think that acetylene torches are the tools of the Devil sent to destroy mankind. Probably wouldn't be the best career move...

I don't see how this has anything to do with the Constitution.

In this case, the public institution is actually being MORE tolerant. She doesn't meet the criteria set forth for the program, and as opposed to being dismissed summarily, she is being given the option of continuing -- however, in order to continue, she must undergo supplemental training to bring herself up to speed.

Nobody is forcing her into her educational/career path. She could major in Religious Studies and nobody with give a flying shit about a homophobic whack job. The program is dictating that in order to meet the educational purposes of their curriculum, she needs to be able to differentiate between her own personal beliefs and the needs of her patrons.

 

I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of acetylene torches as the product of Satan...
